Rolex for sale

A couple of years ago we went on a trip to New York and visited China Town as well. And I went to the famous watch district in Canal Street. I found a Rolex dealer who had part of his collection in a suitcase because his shop was being redecorated (what drive, what a businessman, a true New Yorker).

As he recognized me for the connoisseur I am right away, he recommended a four tone Rolex President. What a watch! He showed me a few known Rolex traits. The case back is engraved with the words: “We certify that this is a real Rolex watch”, the watch runs backwards (unique to a real Rolex, that convinced me) and the bottom of the dial reads: “T Swiss Cheese T”. What he hadn’t noticed himself was the fact that the case itself is stamped 24c! Ha, ha, he sold me the watch as being 18 carat gold while in fact it is 24 carat! What a steal!

I paid only $1000 for it. The only thing that worries me a bit is that the gold turns green during the Fall. But this is easily remedied with the nice polishing cloth he gave me.

Because you fine gentlemen are ‘in the know’ I only want you to confirm my Rolex is real and at what price I can let it go. Perhaps one of you wants to make me an offer?

Anxiously awaiting your answers,

Frans.

Sounds like a good one to me, all the Rolex's I've owned have turned green in the fall.

Frans, I'm afraid you may have gotten a fake. I am sorry to be the one to have to break it to you, but you mentioned nothing about it having jump hours. That's a dead giveaway. Without the jump hours it's not the real thing. I would go back to him, and make him give you a discount on it.

Some of the most scary real looking fakes I have seen was in Thailand a few
years ago not talking about the ones in tourist shops or markets. But in very nice jewellers, boy they were good, looked pukka all the right, marks, serials etc and boxes and papers, but alas no Rolex watermark in the papers.

So you won't buy it then? I'm devastated. And all this is on top of the one JJ pulled on me. I am the one who bought his PO. It just arrived and guess what? It doesn't resemble all those pictures at all and reads Clonega instead of Omega. I want my 3000 smackers back! But JJ doesn't answer the phone and his private e-mail address doesn't exist anymore. JJ, if you are reading this: what did you send me, you Kiwi who's challenged in the hair department. What a 'friend' you are

Take care,

FRans.

That's your problem, Frans. You are too trusting. Don't you know you should never trust a bald Kiwi who is horologically challanged?
