Congratulations. See? It can happen and sometimes it can happen to you. I wish you big fun.

Love the BLRO and love it even more on Oyster. You can't go wrong either way.

Look up your name on Facebook/Instagram. See if you have a steady stream of different watches, aka flipper and/or dealer. I only occasionally post watch pictures on IG and when I do there is context that they are mine or something I was looking at.

I see, that makes sense.

I think i read a thread on here a while back about somebody getting caught flipping by rolex because the serial # was visible on an ebay post or something. Rolex contacted AD who then contacted the seller. I also don't know if the post was true.

But either way... Congrats OP

I do a lot more reading on this forum than posting, but I thought I would detail my recent AD experience.

I’ve wanted a BLRO since they were released, but haven’t been keen on paying grey prices. I had a small spending history with my AD, but they mentioned I would need 100k purchase history to get on the list.

Work has taken us to a new venue, and in December I popped into the local AD. They had no Rolex models on display, but were very nice, and genuinely enjoyed speaking about watches.

I told them of my interest, they mentioned it was a very tough piece to get, and I left them my contact information. I would stop in every month or so, just to say hello. They were always very nice.

The sales associate mentioned that Rolex has put pressure on them to not sell to flippers, and they might keep the warranty card if they were to get me one. I jokingly told them no worries. The could scratch my name on the back of the watch with a rusty nail. If I get one, I’m wearing it. They laughed at that.

I had no real expectations as a new customer. But yesterday they called me and told me to stop by, they had something to show me. I still didn’t have my hopes up, but they indeed delivered a BLRO to me. I was thrilled.

A couple of random thoughts from the experience.

They said they do a social media search to try and weed out flippers.

They gave me the warranty card.

They said the majority of their phone calls are inquiries about their Rolex stock.

I’m thrilled.

Thanks to all the great posts here.

Congrats!

Congrats! Truly an iconic, heirloom watch.

I know many here are frustrated with the market, but let's keep things in perspective. I'm helping my son search for a used car to replace his 2014 that was stolen. We finally found a 2016 very similar to what he had (same make/model/options) with very low miles. We jumped on it, even though the sale price is pretty much what MSRP was in 2016.

You may think I'm crazy, but trust me, the price is the price in the world we live in today. I'm fortunate we can afford to pay that price. The thought of paying that much stung at first, but we've gotten over it and it works for us.

I'd say to keep everything in perspective, develop a relationship with your AD, and be patient. Study history (not just Rolex history but modern history and the economy) and you'll see that things will change. Ignore social media and FOMO. Good luck to all, and again, congratulations to the OP on a stunning achievement!
