So, I would think this $350 purchase would possible qualify as one of the biggest Rolex bargains ever.
Wow... speechless..

I can understand picking up something real that someone thinks is fake for under $20. But I don’t understand something being sold for $800 or $300 when it’s worth a whole lot more. Nobody’s going to spend that for a fake in a pawn shop. My guess is that they know it’s stolen.

In the case of thrift stores, they work off of donated goods so it's unlikely (not impossible) stolen goods will end up there.

I actually sent the watch my mom found to an RSC for that exact reason. I'd rather turn it in if it was stolen and get the money back from the thrift store than wear a stolen watch.

Well now none of us will understand how that happened. It must have fallen out of a parallel universe and landed in the thrift store. Its not stolen, its not a fake and sold in a thrift store for a few hundred.

Honestly, well done for having it checked out, I guess if Rolex confiscated it you would only be out of pocket a few hundred.

It may not be the biggest bargain here so far, but it has one of the best back stories.

Biggest Rolex Bargain (In this forum)

Wasn’t a Rolex, but picked up a Longines for $25 at a Goodwill. Had it serviced by my Jeweler and gave it to my Mom for Mother’s Day. Found other watches in local jewelers that I bought for decent deals.

Aow

Just on ebay? Please tell me it was a buy it now and not an auction. If it was an auction, how did everyone else miss it??

It was an auction. Seller listed the parts as “omega parts lot”. Buyer was sharp-eyed enough to spot them in the pile of parts. There’s a thread here about it. Pretty wild.

You have all the authentication directly from Rolex. End of story. Quite literally, #owned

Both very nice pieces! I know this is a rolex forum, but the omega with the integrated bracelet is in pristine condition. For two pounds, you cant go wrong :)

Best story, yes, but the biggest windfall was the 1967 DRSD prototype.

I get bad flashbacks to the scene in “Leaving Las Vegas” when Nicolas Cage’s character pawns his Rolex........

I once saw a new BLRO selling here for only 8k over sticker. Talk about a bargain!

Is that DRSD thread legit? It seems a bit fishy to me. In the end a mod closed it as they OP was very vague.

Sorry I just saw the earlier update. Wow, that was quite a find and definitely the biggest bargain ever!

Here is one that got away. A 5517 mil sub with correct bezel and hands in 1997 for £2000 by the time I got to the jewellers it had been sold!

I bought a 5513 1987 with service parts for $120, and two Heuer monaco 1133 (one blue and one gray) for $150 both, 3 years ago.

4 years ago my girlfriend was working and found this Sub in White on the floor at a restaurant's bar. She handed it over to the Manager to keep in the store safe until the owner comes back to claim it. 6 months later no one made any attempt to get it back. Manager cleans out the safe and gives it to her. She gives it to me and we both thought it was fake. I took it to the Rolex dealer and asked them to check it out. I called the Police to check for any reports of missing or stolen Rolex's. Rolex serviced it and sent it back. Police said it's mine now after no one made a report. Now that's a pretty good deal and cheap!
