I’ll be the exact opposite this week.
Taking three with me on vacation.
Two of them, my most valued.
Let’s stop this “leave your watches” mentality.
It’s ludicrous.

So, instead of insuring and enjoying what you bought, do you propose we buy it, leave it in a safe, and never wear it?

Don’t know your age but at 60, you’ll have a completely different perspective on what truly matters in life.

Its not only the loss of the watch, its what they do to you to get it.

Survived the ordeal.

After being targeted for my watch in Barcelona, I don't bother wearing high end pieces abroad. Insured or not, it's just not worth it - the little scumbags know good watches these days - especially in the UK.

except most US cities have higher crime rates so its probably safer for those watches not to be at "home" or for you to be there either

All the stats are blended and non-contextual.

No matter the city/state/country, perpetrators visit target-rich zones, assess the risk-reward, and act upon those variables.

Keeping a watch at home is not any safer than taking it with you and being vigilant. Lightning can strike in either place.

My feeling too.

Ok, if you’re scared to wear a nice watch out, sell it what’s the point in owning it.

wear your watches and ENJOY.
I NEVER leave at home, but I take great care where they are stored and where I venture into.
So far I have been safe

I got robbed of my 16613 at gunpoint in broad daylight a few years in the financial district of Bogota. It happens. I was targeted for the watch.

Storing a watch is silly, I wear mine. If it gets stolen here is the series of events that follows:
1) call police
2) call Jewelers Mutual
3) call HQ Milton
4) enjoy new watch

Sorry to hear.
Having grown up in the NYC area, yeah, it happens.
That said, can’t live your life worried if it will happen.
Use situational awareness and common sense.
Insure and wear it, or just don’t buy it at all.
