Too much bling for me regardless of who makes it.

Money no object, absolutly. I would prefer it in Rose of yellow gold. Still it is a stunning watch.

Wow, you're right -- all those diamonds around the bezel do look like a plastic bezel protector!

Perhaps I should put the PBP back on my 16610 Sub Date!

But is the 5970 available with a platinum case and a black dial?

I can't seem to find any reference to one like that.

IMHO, that's what makes the 5971 so attractive.

Maybe it's me, but I would expect a nicer finish and some style in a PP movement. This one looks pedestrtian (no blued screws, no fancy finish or scrolling on the balance cock, etc...) Maybe it's just the picture.

Nice watch though. Could do without the diamonds.

Patek's movements are top notch. The level of finishing is about the best you can get (I admit, the pic is not very good)

Top Swiss brands do not use blued screws, this is a German thing (Lange and Glashutte Original use those blue screws)

Patek never used blue screws (I think Breguet, AP, VC don't use them neither)

Ah, I see. I wasn't questioning the movement itself, just that the finish looks a bit bland. Like I said, it could be the picture.

I would much rather have the 5970P if you could still get it. Not a fan of all the diamonds on it.
Not that I could afford it anyhow!!!
