It's so sad and disappointing that a number of these watches been supplied to flippers in a matter of days from launch.

Its very hard for the likes of AP, Patek and others to distinguish between genuine enthusiasts and the fly by night flippers that are swamping the watch market.

not really. There's not a single 16202 on chrono24, not a single 15550st, and just 1 26240st. Considering they may have sold a few hundred watches by now, that's actually very few watches that have been flipped. I applaud them.

You have misunderstood my post. I think the likes of AP, Patek, Rolex etc are put in a very difficult situation by these hoards of flippers. Its very difficult to be sure of the true intentions of every single person that walks through their doors. ADs try to do the best they but as you can see from the tons and tons of 2021 watches on Chrono24 they are not infallible.

And I repeat that it is really hard to distinguish. Unfortunately the market has put the likes of AP in the difficult position of having to "vet" every customer. It is not easy and I know for a fact that they try their hardest.

I'd love to know what number of pieces each AP house/ AD actually get/ sell each year.

Here in the UK we are down to 3/ 4 outlets so out of the 45 000 ish pieces AP produce each year how many go into each territory - and specifically how many into the UK for example?

If you assume 2000 into the UK (I have no idea but it seems an approx guess) that equates to 2 sales per working day across all UK outlets? Not many!

The AP House on Bond Street is not the cheapest rental space in the UK ;)

I have heard that if any of these get flipped, the salesperson of the client gets into a lot of trouble with management. So the vetting process is extremely stringent and pieces only allocated to known clients for the time being

Those 2 pieces a day can equate to £50k+ gross profit, which can easily pay the Bond St rent :)

it's such a weird situation now where these watches you own have gone up so much but at the same time if you sell you know there's a very good possibility you'll never be able to own one again

Which is why I always tell people that as a long term collector, apart from higher insurance premiums, the higher prices don’t mean Jack.
