Would you recommend a TAG over Invicta? I know Seiko makes a nice auto too. My friend is looking for the closest watch that resembles a Sub as possible. If you have pics to attach with your recommendations, that would be great!

Thanks guys
Please no Invicta, anything but an Invicta! You will know why if you look through what sort of watches it offers and how most of its watches look uncannily like some other brand especially Rolex.

If your friend has to choose between Tag and Invicta I would suggest Tag. Have a look at Orient as well.

Highly recommend a Debaufre/Steinhart Ocean 1. You can get used for approx. $350.

Seiko automatic black monster, $205.00 on amazon, and he's $795.00 closer to his first rolex.

I'm not saying i like it... I'm saying it's my suggestion.

It appears to have lume that can be read from space.

Another vote for Debaufre. Their customer service is excellent.

I was asking myself this same question but my search was focused on diver's or divers-styled watches. Among my choices were:

1. Ginault BM1
2. Marathon GSar
3. Sin EZM3 (though granted this would cost over $1500.

And then I saw this:

www. ablogtoread.com/seiko-snzf17k1-sea-urchin-is-your-ultimate-submariner-styled-value-watch/

Way under budget, with all the classic styling cues without being an exact copy, this beats all the rest. BUT, it's not a "true" diver. It's good for only 100m and has no screw down crown. Not a big deal for me since I don't even shower with a watch on.

Send more. I think it is better to buy what you really want when you can afford it. I did buy a gently used Omega Sea Master this year for $1,300.00 and it is great. More than the $1K limit but it would be worth it. I suggest waiting for the right deal to come along and the wait will be rewarded. Just my opinion.

This has a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms vibe to it and at $295 seems a like good deal
