Daytona with black dial+diamonds? Real?

Hi All,

I a total newbe to Rolex watches so bear with me on this one. I do own a handful of other nicely branded automatics but I need some help with what could be my first Rolex.

Check out this Daytona. It's apparently from the Zenith movt' days. Doing a little net searching I found no similarly styled watches (black dial with the diamonds - I did see several champagne colored variations). Also, I'm a little worried about the way the bracelet is attached to the watch case. To me it looks flimsy compard to some of the others Daytona bracelet/case attachments. I know the pix are terrible but can anyone help me make an informed decision?

Thanks, thomas

Welcome to TRF!

It is REALLY tough to see from the pics, but I would say the watch is real.

I couldn't find a pic of a TT "Zenith" Daytona with a black diamond dial, but this is the closest I could come to it:

TT "Zenith" Daytona black dial! CLICK!

Your watch:
  • NON SEL's are right.
  • TT clasp is right
  • Much wear on the gold tends to show that the gold is SOLID

But somehow I think that THE BOX looks strange (the Rolex logo and font in the lid).

A closer look at the dial (macro pic) would help us further, though.

When my friend, Don (sub2004) was out to get a new Daytona for himself, we saw a genuine Black dial Daytona with diamonds on the dial at Mansor's Jewellers. It did look very beautiful.
