Great review - One of many that helped me make my decision.
What I like about it: Pretty much everything!
What I don't like: 21 mm lug size is a pain to find strap options for...and a Glidelock clasp would have been really nice

Very nice review and I mostly agree with your pros and cons. I think a larger crown would be visually appealing but its hard to beat the comfort of the smaller crown. I've got very large hands/fingers and I don't have a problem with the size. It's not like it gets daily use anyway. I also tend to wear my Explorer II more these days than my Bluesy Sub. It's a superb everyday tool watch!

As far as the 21mm lug width...
I've found the 22mm straps work well and I absolutely like the fit better than the 20mm NATO strap whch leaves too much gap between the lugs.

I have a Sub-C for about 4 years and added an Exp II Polar about 6 months ago.

I wear it about 50% of the time, and, knock on wood, don't have any scratches on the bezel.

Only thing I would ask to be improved is to add the Glide Lock clasp. Would gladly pay a few hundred dollars more to have it.

I've had my White-Face Explorer-II for almost 20 years, and my SS Submariner for 30 years.....both in 40mm.

I've always thought the White-Explorer-II is the perfect watch, until the newer 42mm came out 4 years ago......been lusting ever since....

I'm a big guy and considered the black-n-blue Deep-Sea, but love the white face so much.

I'm going to be in Switzerland for the second half of October and figured I'd buy the White-Explorer-II -42mm there including 2 extension-links.
Between Bucherer in Zurich, Bern, Lucerne, and Interlaken; and the Rolex boutique on the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich I can usually find ANYTHING I would want.

Yesterday I called my dealer here in the US and found out they had a White-Face-Explorer-II in-stock.
I made a deposit and had them expedite 2 new extension links to go with it.
I'll be back in town Thursday to pick it up.....looking forward to it....

I thought about trading both watches above for the new one, but I have twin daughters in their 30's that have always wanted these......so that's what I'll do....

PS: I'm sure my OCD will be telling me I ALSO need a Black-Face Explorer-II also!

I agree with Jumpmaster and Rolex fan 61 above.. I love everything about my 216570 Polar.
SO easy to read at all hours and fits incredibly well. Balance on the wrist. I absolutely love that the crown doesn't protrude much and dig into the wrist on a cold day. I find the Easylink is the only adjustment I need and I have owned a Glidelock watch for 5 months too. Easylink can be adjusted without looking. I can't recommend the Explorer II highly enough.
