GF is the absolute pinnacle of today's horology IMHO. And the Balancier S is their best watch all considered.

It’s very nice! Have you also considered the GMT Sport (same case shape, water resistance etc but with tourbillon and world time globe)? If I were to pick one of them it would be the GMT for me.

Yes I like the GMT sport but that one is out of my budget range.

I’ve only seen pics and read about the GF. IMO it is stellar.

I have had the privilege to see this LV Flying Tourbillon (with a geneva zeal) which I consider in the same ballpark. A true marvel.

Both though are out of my league at the moment. Happy to admire them from the sidelines.

The watch is technically quite impressive, not my personal aesthetic. Finishing is likely amazing, every Greuble watch I’ve seen has been impeccably finished.

I agree with you about the text on the bezel etc.., sort of their signature, look at the back of most of their watches. I don’t really care for it, but many seem to like it.

I think it’s an absolutely stunning watch without the GMT, which makes it less than half the cost. The curved sapphire is unique and I love the shade of the blue. Just buy it at the right price because GFs get massacred in the secondary as you probably know.

Yes I know the secondary market is not too good to G-F.. I am hoping this one does not do as badly

Same. I wish they didn't have the test, but it is their signature. And there's an immense amount of skill that goes into creating that text.

That's my biggest issue with GF.

Their pricing is absurd, and thus they get butchered in the secondary market.

That said, I absolutely love GF. I'd love to be able to say they're worth every penny, and I definitely don't buy to resell, but it's a tough pill to swallow when the haircut is ~65% in some cases.

That's Jaquet Droz percentages!

Louis Vuitton. They have a High Watchmaking catalogue that is separate and quite distinct from the local boutique watch catalogue marketed to the typical LV fashion consumer. I know there is a general stigma against the brand and even the LVHW aren’t for everyone but it’s they are at the highest horological standards. Flying tourbillons, minute repeaters. Not the run of the mill stuff. And not the run of the mill price tag either unfortunately lol....this one is close to 250k if I recall. Got the chance to see it in the flesh, it is a masterpiece.
