Excited and Nervous (help)

I’m looking to make my first purchase from a TRF member requesting wire to there spouses bank account. The member has been active less than a year. I was given 4 references 2 of which emailed back saying “buy/deal with confidence” the others have yet to respond. After reading about fake references I’ve requested quick phone calls and they both agreed to speak with me (one ref is also a member). I also plan on calling the seller before completing the transaction since all dialog has been via email. Any insight, suggestions, words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!

Yes I would never buy a watch from a newer member with little feedback. Good luck!

Plenty of well known sellers here with pages of feedback so why on earth would you gamble with a relatively unknown. So flip a coin either you get lucky and get watch or we will read a thread in watch out section on how you got burnt.

The above, all day long.

If you’re not comfortable then stay away.

Stick with known folks. Especially if it’s a watch that is available at multiple sources. Vintage can be a little different but with modern watches saving a few bucks is generally not worth the risk.

Looks like I may have dodged a bullet guys. The one reference that I did speak with this morning gave me really bad vibes. The other references and the seller have gone dark since I've requested phone numbers. It still maybe a little premature to call it 100% a scam but that is the vibe I'm getting.

The member who tried to scam me is now officially banned but one of his “member references” is not.
