is this GMT II a good buy?

Saw this watch in person today. Very nervous on pulling the trigger, but i think i'll always be.

No box, no papers, watch looked in good shape to me. It might be missing a few end links but fits my wrist well. Been hunting the last few weeks in Japan and this is the cheapest one i've found that's close to where i am right now from a reputable second hand chain.

price comes out to about $7500 USD.

What do you guys think? has it been polished? Should i pull the trigger?

I need more pics of the watch but I’m fairly certain that the bezel is aftermarket, not original

I sent you a PM with the link to the particular model i'm looking at. Because of my low post count I can't post links to images on here.

I think the bezel looks like other 1995 models that i've found on chrono24. what makes you think that the bezel is aftermarket?

Thanks for your response, and hello from bucks county (well, i'm currently in Japan now!) !

just wanted to chime in as the OP is not familiar, Travelair007 is referring to the insert, not the actually bezel it self.
its not dramatic as any AD could sell you an original insert for ~70bucks.
I would focus on the mechanism, dial, oyster, things that are costly to replace and make a decision from there.
More pics will help

Thanks for the clarification! That’s what I meant

I'm not an expert, but can't find anything wrong with it from the photo. Good price for that model at 7500.

The bezel insert is genuine. Found during the later part of the 1990s at the end of the tritium dial era.

Watch looks nice and price is very reasonably.

so you bought it already huh? my recommendation is to get it inspected by a professional locally quick :) . I don't like what i see from your initial pics. I need better pics....you should still get it inspected (open the case) since you have no paperwork, etc.

JP and David say it's good. JP is an expert on GMT's. What did they miss that you found?

It seems to be good.
I mean I’ve learned a bit in TRF about the insert and it seems to be genuine.
Maybe with more pictures it will be easier to help you.
I’ve requested help a couple of weeks ago and TRF members helped me a lot about GMT I’m wearing right now !

I’m no expert as well but I would be comfortable getting one from Japan especially if it’s from a reputable dealer. They are very meticulous over there.

Got back to the US today and was able to take more pics. Sorry if they don't come out too good.

I think some links from the 78360 band are missing but they seem to be cheap from my ad, and this fits my wrist perfectly. I'm going to stop by today and try to order a Pepsi bezel.
