The love and hate of the ceramic Pepsi

It seems that opinions on the ceramic Pepsi are pretty polarized amongst the group. While there’s been a couple variations over the past few years I will agree some of the first renditions just didn’t sit right with me. The blue was too much purple or the red too pink. I will say that after having picked up mine a couple weeks ago
I am preferring this combo over the aluminum. Now before yall light me up hear me out. I have plenty of love for the aluminum bezels. I do believe that is the last of the true tool watches of Rolex and although the new references are tough they just don’t have the same charm. Now the reason I personally prefer this version is it reminds me of the rich navy and almost burgundy red of the OG 6542. Now it does play in the light a lot being ceramic, but I find on a nice overcast day that navy and burgundy peaks out and it’s a joy to look at. I think they really dialed it in on this variant. Also I’m glad this guy didn’t get discontinued as I hope that everyone that’s on a list for one gets theirs. Of all the modern Rolex I’ve had this one takes the cake.

I couldn’t connect with my BLRO. That doesn’t mean I hate it but just the colors didn’t work for me. The GMT watch was great in form and function.

Thankfully Rolex realized their mistake and now offers it on the Oyster Bracelet (as it should be) ;)

My all-time favorite. The military and aviation history makes it the one for me. Any BLRO from aluminum to ceramic I'm a big fan of.

It’s a gorgeous watch. Just not 20k+ worth of watch though.

My first thought when I bought one was “wow this is definitely not a $20,000 watch”

It’s a cool piece though

I received a late 2022 Pepsi from my AD and I believe the colors are pretty true on the bezel. I've seen earlier ones where the red and blue were not particularly well sorted. Maybe it's hit or miss over the years, but I'm happy with what I have.

If you send a watch with mk1 bezel in for servicing, would they replace it with a mk2/3 bezel?

I didn’t realize it was a polarizing watch. The thing is sick.

Waited 3 years for this one. Bezel colour really does depend on the lighting.

I agree with this. I want to love it, I love a GMT watch...but every time I try the modern 12 series something just feels off to me...and that is only my personal opinion.

Because the watch I was waiting for has been discontinued during W&W, I went to the boutique and place another wish on the list.

I tried 126500LN with black dial, the white gold version, and BLRO.

Unfortunately, 40k is too much for a 14k watch (Gold Daytona) and I know I would never wear it by fear of theft. I can't, for the life of me, appreciate the new Daytona. It's the ceramic bezel. Something is wrong. I am aware people love it, but on my wrist it just doesn't look good.

Regarding BLRO, while I really love the watch, I must finally admit that the color scheme is too clashy. I would love for it to work, but it just doesn't for me. And this is coming from a fan since the days of 1675.

So, that only left me with the new GRNR. Hopefully I get this one before it's discontinued this time.

Congratulations. The definitive GMT, still going strong in BLRO livery and closer to the original 6542 than the later aluminium bezel inserts.

No worries of discontinuation this time in my Opinion. The SS GRNR will be the standard GMT, and the Pepsi will never be discontinued too as it's the original GMT, and it will be somthing like the Panda Daytona used as a carrot to lure buyers.

Not a fan f any of the ceramic bezel inserts nothing wrong with the much cheaper aluminium ones that were quite cheap and easy to replace if ever needed. With todays very pampered watches that would be very very very very seldom.

To be fair, those wishing for the colors to look like those of the aluminum bezels will be waiting forever, because they’ll never look the same.

That’s a good thing in my books. Both are beautiful and unique in their own way

Those with real taste don't year for aluminium, but bakelite.

Totally understand this. I've had my BLRO since 2018, and waver back and forth on how much I actually enjoy it. At times, I think it's perfect. Other times, I find it to be bling-y, gaudy, and too shiny. Still haven't sold it, and after 6 years, don't think I ever will.

Perfect take, Brian. I've felt the exact same. While I know it's a popular complaint, but who ever said they needed to be the same shades of blue/red?
