Only 12 months ago, and the recent price acceleration is increasing.

Nearer 180 right now, you're selling cheap.

I feel the same. Aquanuat > Nautilus in everyday wearability.

Aquanuat is Mercedes to me while Nautilus is Ferrari.

I would drive my mercs everyday and keep the best for only the most worthwhile occasion.

If I can choose between one, I'll keep my Ferrari and buy a Toyota (Offshore or Hublot) for everyday drive instead.

IMO, VC overseas is the real bargain here if you want to compare with Aquanuat.

Interesting how everyone thought the price was either stagnant or retreat below the $100k mark.

I was one of them too and moved one of my older 5711 blue.

Most of us were very wrong.

Agreed but its generally perceived as such. I was wearing a 5370p recently and was asked if its a Patek. The second question was, why don't I get a Nautilus.

Interesting times for us collectors.

That's the hard part, when to let go?

Prices have risen by $40,000 in the past three months, and the graph is getting progressively more vertical.

Do we know actual sold prices? I am always wary with online 'asking' prices compared to what they actually sell for.

I wear my 5712 daily but I'm started to get a bit worried as it's now financially a large asset compared to when I bought it. Can I afford to wear it every day like I do? I'm trying not to think much about it because I love my watch.

My feelings exactly. I think the value is partly tied to the 5711, and is only going higher when it's eventually discontinued.

Does this mean no more “new” production of 5712 but there may still be stocks yet to be shipped this year?

Oh man, I love my 5712 and it felt really special at $34K when I bought it in 2017. Best...watch...ever...100%.

But, ironically, I don't feel good wearing a $150K+ watch. Suddenly my watch habit has gone from "a well deserved indulgence" to "what the f**k" am I doing..."

A genuine, heartbreaking shame because the 5712 is so special and, if I let it go, I'm certain I won't see it's likes again.

Never thought I'd feel like I was slumming with a Platinum DD40. and thinking about it, I'm feeling tempted to dump everything and just wear my JC DSSD, which I (fortunately) really enjoy and doesn't seem insane at at the $12Ksih I paid for it.

What a crazy hobby this has become...

I'm sure you buy and wear your pieces for yourself and not for others so the fact that a regular Joe now recognises a Nautilus but not a 5370P isn't really of any importance to us collectors.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - great anecdote.
I have a much-used one where, back in 2002 a friend turned down an F40 in a straight swap with his 360 Spider.

Interesting times for collectors indeed.
