It’s not weight, it’s heft…and the chicks love it.

I think Tungsten makes more sense than Platinum. Too bad Rolex doesn't use it.

The heft is a part of the charm!

This ^

Tungsten would be f* awesome. Yeah, it's heavy. It is nearly as non-reactive as PT and at least as non-reactive as SS. It takes a great finish and is interesting looking.

I love the feel of platinum. It's almost electric.

What is the weight of the platinum DDII in 41mm?

If the DD40 platinum is 270g, I imagine the DDII is closer to 300g.

The heft is absolutely phenomenal… Nothing like a full Platinum Rolex

Puts a smile on my face every morning when I put one of my platinum Rolexes on.

You immediately sense the pull of gravity… from the center of the Earth

It is not heavy and a joy to wear if you can get the right fit. If it is too loose the head will slide all over, much more so than the gold models, due to its weight.

That's good to know, as the PT DD36 is firmly in my sights. My "Smurf" weighs 215g (I think?) when I weighed it last with (I think) 3 links taken out.

While I dont own a plat Rolex, I have several PM Rolex, and I will echo what has been said, the first few minutes when you put one on, you will notice it and then you forget its there.

I don't own a Platinum DD but do have a couple RG DD's (36mm and 40mm). Super comfortable. As long as you don't like to wear your watches loose, should be comfy

I don't mean to discourage you if you are considering getting one.
Like others have mentioned, getting a good fit is critical due to its weight when compared to a gold DD for example. Otherwise, the watch can literally slide up and down your wrist like a weighted chain as your arm swings just from walking...

What I like to do is to size the bracelet slightly loose and wear it snug higher up my wrist to stop it from moving. This way I'm also leaving some room for swelled wrist on hot summer days.

From my experience, gold DD36 DEFINITELY wears more comfortably from the way the weight of gold is balanced and distributed between the bracelet and the head. The PT DD just feels very top heavy but maybe that is simply due to the mass and density of platinum.

Despite its weight "issue" it's still one of my favorite DD to wear from practical standpoint. It's demure, conservative, and the distinct bright white sheen of platinum is pleasant and easy on the eyes.

This is an older PT DD36 reference but I'd imagine the new 128236 to wear similarly.

This exactly. Platinum Daytona is heavy but you forget about it.

I will go against the grain here, I owned a platinum daytona for a bit over a year. Like others said, you feel the weight immediately and it goes away shortly thereafter. What no one mentioned is that keeping the watch on for 12+ hours I felt it get too heavy on the wrist and a bit cumbersome. Maybe I just need to hit the gym more.
