As I go back again and look at the answers to his questions--I am going with my original gut feeling-not buying this. It again would be wonderful if it was true and yes I understand some good TRF folks might be bidding on it--but unless they know him and have seen the watch--they have no more of an idea than you or I if it is the real deal. Going with my original gut. Again--I hope I am wrong!!!!!

A liitle more than a day left. Last time something like this was found, a member of VRF went and saw it in person and verified it to the forum...pretty cool. I hope it's legit. I'm sure we will find out.

Since I think it is a farce--my guess--ZERO!! Just my opinion--it has gone backwards though a few thousand as people have retracted bids.

It's down to just over $31K now.

Everyone is retracting bids.

Gee--I wonder why???? LOL!! Again--Can you say SCAMMER!!! By the way-I spoke to two well known vintage dealers who
also were asking questions--both had same hunch as me--for what it's worth. His questions gave him away. We are closer to
my guess of ZERO!!

I'm split in the middle about this story. He seems a little too computer saavy to be 81. He also saw this auction go crazy, and never bothered to stop the auction to see what he had. There are a few things that seem too good to be true........But....Most of these old watches are purchased on military bases for $500 back then, and they assume they are worth as much as the golf cart in the garage.

I don't know, but I'd like to see what it goes for.

Read the answers to his questions--not buying it. It would be a great story-and I hope it is real. Again--if it was -these 2 dealers-two of the best vintage dealers around-would be all over it and they walked after talking to him.

anyone else think that the bid retractions coudl be a group of people or friends working together for one guy ( one of them) trying to see how low they can get it for after scaring others off?

One of the bid retractions had quite an active bidding history. The other 3 didn't.

Just passed the $40K mark.

On the initial read, I had a warm fuzzy, but then on subsequent visits lost the feeling. We shall see. I hope it plays out legit, or else next thing you know someone will be telling me Santa isn't real.

Passed $55K. Same bidder since $32K with the guy driving his bid up having only a 7 feedback.

I think we all hope it is real--as again what a story if so. I just don't buy it! I hope I am proven wrong! I hope we also find out somehow!
