I realized this morning that I never posted any before and after shots in this thread. I wanted them there for archival purposes. I hope everyone doesn't mind.

before and after pics are the best.
this is why we shouldn't stress about scratches and just enjoy wearing them.

For me this experience has made me a believer in never polishing a watch so that it retains its original lines. I would much rather have original scratches with original lug chamfers and original demarcated crown guards. Rounded edges and protruding lug bars is WAY WORSE IMHO.

That's an amazing watch Jason. What a find! Who did you get to do the restoration?

ABC Watchwerks. The work wasn't cheap, but they sourced a bracelet and bezel insert as well as the modified T39 service crystal. The service /restoration / parts cost me just shy of $3,000.......still VERY affordable considering my initial output when I acquired it.

Keep the pictures coming Jason. Love looking at that beauty. This thread is great inspiration for people hunting for barn finds.

I think I'm gonna do the same thing you did and get the tops of the lugs brushed but leave the sides alone.

Great story and one amazing watch! Is the T39 modified by ABC in-house? Which end links did you end up going with for this bracelet?
