Whoop, I'm pleased!
Got a photo from MY in Hong Kong today... I reckon his dial guy is a magician! I couldn't wait to post before & after dial photos, so here ya go:

hey Storky,
looks like they are doing some great work but i can't help wondering why some of the hour plots that were in good shape look wurse on the restored dial shot ? 1, 4, 8, ...

Oooh you guys are picky! We have to remember that all this has been done by hand and a paintbrush ... and apparently a miniature spray gun! Originally the dials are printed.
Take a look at the watches on your wrists and see how big these marks are. I had the option of a dial restore which to me was a BIG no-no.
Anyhow it turned out better than I expected (Unless it was a Photoshop retouch - I haven't got it yet!)

YOur first shot back in Dec I think looks bloody awesome! This is exactly why I love vintage. I'd piss myself if I found a piece like that in the not-the-usual manner.
Want clean? Well I have my modern pieces for that.
I wouldn't change anything except stabilize the dial, which you have now done and it looks terrific. The hands, please don't replace or relume. They are perfect! Get a correct insert along with an independent service, i.e. not RSC and you're good. PLUS that did not cost you that much, since you said the mech is ok.
I was truly surprised by all the down-playing of this one. I was expecting the exact opposite. funny.

Thanks for your input guys!
Just want to say that if bits weren't falling off the dial I would have left it and to me I don't really like anything that has 'been played with'. But under the circumstances I think it was the best compromise.

Dial & hands back in UK. (Well done Michael Young in HK for a great job!)

* Bracelet 93150 purchased (Thanks to friend on the forum!)
* 580 (from Sub 1680) ends changed to 585's (deeper & correct for the thicker SD case)
* Insert sourced & fitted (thanks for the advice everyone!)
* Case sides & lugs (VERY!) slightly improved - there was no major dings or lumps out of them. Lugs to be re-grained a little.
* Worn & damage movement parts replaced.

Now to my man to throw the fully serviced engine back in, chuck it in a pint of beer to make sure it doesn't leak & we're there!

Quick question:
I've researched this and I'm still not quite sure. The watch is 1971, would this have had a Twinlock crown (700) originally??? I've got one of those available but didn't know whether to fit it.
If I intend to wear it hard & probably get it wet probably better to fit a new Triplock......

Anyhow, here is where we are so far:
