I wonder if watch will come up for auction soon or if he will keep it?

I was also watching and was disappointed they didn't talk about the importance/history of the bezel. I'm sure some watching have an old gmt tucked away and will be disappointed that it might not have a 75k price tag.

Cool story and glad it happened to a nice gentleman

Very cool story and clip - that's for posting! I think it's very cool that he bought it (and the one for his father) just on advice from his sergeant. Was a lot of money to him back then.

I love seeing this happen to people, where they don't know what they have and get floored at he value.

I'm glad he never sold it for peanuts.

Probably already posted - Antiques Roadshow 1960 GMT Master/box papers

http://www.pbs.org/video/2365703427/

I took this from another Rolex chat site, but in the off chance it hasn't been posted here.

This guy had no idea what he had. Worth a watch.

wow $25k more for the box and papers. Maybe that will put the "box and papers being worthless" debate to bed.

The bezel insert looked dark blue on my calibrated plasma. I was disappointed that they didn't talk about the rivet bracelet, myself (unless I'm remembering wrong, there was wine involved when I was watching it!).

Great story, at a Christies auction this would fetch more than 75k. The bezel insert looks dark blue here.

Love it :)

Bakelite bezel GMT on Antiques Roadshow

That aired here, too and I saw the owner's expression as "now what do I do?"
Guess he can't be wearing it out to dinner anymore.

Great to see him hit the jackpot.

That's fantastic. I like the fact that, despite not knowing a great deal about watches and not being a collector, he still kept everything from the purchase as well as the original bracelet despite replacing it.

Awesome story. I guess in some cases box and papers can be extremely valuable.

Amazing apprasial video of original GMT

Hey everyone, Stumbled upon this while lost in the internet vortex. Thought it was amazing and wanted to share. I think the best part of the video is the reaction and emotion shown by the original owner. Enjoy!
