So after all I'm getting this R series with trading in my 114270. It's an unpolished piece from 1987, all original parts except the end links. Although the seller will send the original end links as well.

Try to get a shot with the gasket removed from the channel. There is simply no reason for it to be there other than to perhaps hide some corrosion.

I think that's not much of a corrosion there. What do you guys think?

Yes the oyster came with the watch, the jubilee I bought in 1983, and I got the Everest as a Christmas present in 2016. It looks great with any of them.

Just great aren't they. I just wish that Rolex service department had not polished mine so much, as the lugs just don't seem as substantial as others i have seen in photos on this site. I thought I was doing the right thing sending it back to Rolex, but since joining this forum I have learnt the error of my ways. Keep up the good work I have learnt such a lot in a very short time.

So I haven't changed the bracelet yet, but took some nice photos and was very surprised and pleased at the same time with the dial in direct sun light. The fade is already there, I'm so looking forward to when it's gonna be that all nice tropic chocolate color
