What's the health hazard of wearing the watch given the radium numerals on the insert?

How does this work?

So for example you make an online offer from your home for 100.000 USD and you are the winner of the auction (including fees and such).

You or your dealer pick it up. Do you pay taxes and based on what number? The invoice you got from the auction house?

+

If the auction is held in Singapore and the watch is originally from the Philippines (but flew along to the auction destination because it had to be there) do you still have to pay taxes/customs?

Minimal radiation but nevertheless, I was told that you should avoid having the watch near your head for long periods.

I mean hands that bad warrant restoration, original or not. I would certainly color match the small GMT hand along with a set of fresh luminova hands to increase the total impression of the watch by 300%. Original is Cool but not when it is broken

I had a 6239 PN 20 years ago which I bought from the Torneau watch store in Manhattan for $13K. Its a very cool watch to own too but the 6542 is quite unique and the bakelite bezel is a real thing of beauty that sets the watch apart, much like the exotic dial of the PN Daytona.

Colour-match the 24-hr pointer to a new set of Luminova hands?
Three new Luminova hands (if that's even possible on this ref) and the original 24-hr pointer - repainted...

I think professional restoration by an expert, using period-correct vintage Rolex luminous material would be the way to go, if that direction was decided upon. Not an easy decision

More like color match the 24hr hand and the luminova hands to the lume plots on the dial But of course there are many ways to skin the cat

As this is Geneva's own image, maybe it's a pristine, unworn watch from their archives?

It is clearly not as it has service parts and differs a lot from known top examples.

Photoshop? I took those pictures wd my iphone. The watch was auctioned by Sotheby's and they have a description report of the watch's condition. You think they will hide any flaws of the watch and risk a lawsuit?

I think he is referring to the picture in this post.

According Rolex, the 1955/6? bezels were made from "Plexiglass".

Can't imagine what one in this condition would fetch.

Don't worry RSC can clean it up, get nice new hands (with lume!) and get you a shiny bezel and re-polish......Oh yeah, and get you a nice non stretchy non rivett strap!

I wore the watch yesterday and when i got home the bakelite bezel fell off luckily on the sofa. I almost had a heart attack! I ordered a replica bakelite bezel already and will just keep the original in my safe.

Did you watch it fall on the sofa? If you didn’t and found it on the couch I can imagine your heart stopped for a minute... Im glad you found it, and ordered a bezel to wear. I didn’t realize how fragile the bake bezels were until I got curious a few nights ago and did some research.

I hope your enjoying the watch! You should post some wrist shots in the “Pepsi Only” thread and trip everyone out.
