Lange 1 moonphase vs GO PanoMaticLunar

Hi all

I am just trying to learn more about these two great watches. I've tried on the Lange and it is perfect but double the price of the GO.

I'm sure when I get to try on the GO I will see the key differences but your input is appreciated.

Obviously there are differences such as the GO being automatic, less complicated and is much more thicker but there are enough similarities to warrant a comparison.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers
Anuj

Lange is the same level as Patek, Vacheron and the best brands, GO isn't even if they make very nice watches, I would love to have a datograph whereas no GO model appeals to me enough to think of getting one...

No losers here GO are awesome as well, I do prefer the ALS dial, just comes down to whether you see the value difference.

The ALS dial looks more coherent and interesting to me, also the lugs have a bit more flair in design. I'd pick that one.

ALS with an easy win for me, since I'm not a fan of the GO dial... I don't like how the dials overlap with loosing 3 applied hour markers.

Als as that one is a piece in saving for. It just looks class. If the GO was under 5k then yes. Otherwise save for the Als

Lange 1. Drop the Moon phase and get a standard L1 if it is too expensive.

Thanks for the comments all. I will try the GO on so I can rule it out if necessary.

To be honest when spending this amount, value plays a key factor for me. It's worrying that I have seen the latest Lange 1 which retails at £24k selling for nearly half after being a few years old. I don't see this happening with Rolex/Patek.

Buy second hand then if you can't get a good discount.

I prefer the Lange by far, but that GO is still nice

I have a PML XL and have also had a good look at the Lange 1. Both are fantastic watches and the Lange 1 is a step above in finishing etc. However, my personal preference is for the PML.

Part of this is that since I started collecting watches about 5 years ago, my tastes have changed a bit. At first I liked dressier watches, but now I lean towards ss sports watches. I also have a Vacheron Traditionelle small seconds so this covers any dress watch needs I have.

So as a sportier, ss watch the PML XL ticks lots of boxes for me. The movement is also superb imo and I prefer the implementation of the GO large date to Lange large date with both digits being in the same plane and not separated by a bar.

I have a Patek 5167 like you, but the PML XL still gets plenty of wrist time (even though I've owned it for 3 years), which I think says quite a lot.

Maybe try them both on at Wempe in Bond Street and enjoy the choice.

Thanks very much for this. I will try and visit Wempe this weekend and will see how I get on and will feedback.

Lange all day long. Their movements are out of this world.

They're both spectacular looking watches...make sure you try both on and see which one is "the one".
