I have zero interest in Hublot and would prefer an AP any day. But obviously, this is a very personal decision, so you need to buy what you like and what will put a smile on your face when you look at it on your wrist.

For me Hublot is like IWC there are some models I like and a lot I don't the one above is in the I like category if it makes you happy go for it, it is far from a cheap alternative as indicated in some of the posts it is a high end watch in its own right and I am not sure you would come back to AP after slapping that on your wrist, one is for sale second hand on Australia and it did enough to twig my interest.

I have to say when i saw the Hublot in person at a dealer.. I was disappointed. I think this is a case where the photos really make the product look better than what it really is. I think you get what you pay for.

I own an older Hublot so I do like the brand, but every time I've tried on Big Bangs, they just have a "cheaper" look to them. If you really scrutinize the dials and the movements (if visible) when you compare a Big Bang to an Offshore, you understand why the Hublot is quite a bit cheaper. And that's okay (their success is proof). You do get what you pay for. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Thoughts on this Hublot instead of an AP?
Hello.
I Think in that Price range you Cannot go wrong. You should buy the watch you want. If you where seeking advise about investing 30-50k in a watch, it Would be another question. Nobody knows What a hublot watch is really worth in 10 years time. I Can only say that in Denmark they depreciate a lot. 30k watches are 40- 50 procent off listing Price even after 2 years and they are hard to sell. I Would buy a hublot watch myself . They are so comfortable and the service of hublot is exelent. But i Would never buy one of the " campaing" hublots or gold models. |

You need to buy what you like!
Find a good grey market dealer and it will help you save quite a bit which will make the loss easier to swallow if you decide to sell. If you don't mind pre owned a good gray dealer probably can get you in where you won't lose much if you don't abuse the watch. Hublot is a good brand that makes a solid watch. They diluted their brand a bit with so many LE's BUT seems most brands have made this mistake at one point or another (AP too many LE ROO's, Breitling, Panerai to name a few) Also JCB stepping down upset a lot of the long time Hublot lovers as he was truly a hands on CEO who was accessible to the regular guy... Still it's far from a fashion watch!

I love AP. My advice would be to save up for it. It will be worth the wait.

Well then, what are you waiting for? Sounds like you love the watch, it fits you well, and you can afford it. The only thing holding you back is...haters? C'mon now! Enjoy the Hublot!

I was just poking fun at the thread bump on the hublot/AP topic. These threads have a tendency to turn into dumpster fires given the general lament for them here

Seems like objective in many of these threads is to convince others that a personal purchasing decision is "the" correct one, which is a complete and utter waste of time.

I was in the same boat as you are now a few years ago and went with a less expensive but what I felt at the time a nice entry point into the luxury watch market. I just recently got my first AP and love it. If I could go back I would take the same path but choose a different brand. I wasn't ready at the time to drop $25k on a watch but wanted something I could wear till I got to that point that was still a "nice" watch.
I would just really make sure you want the brand you are selecting and don't just settle otherwise you will never feel satisfied and get stuck with a watch you don't enjoy wearing. |
