How These Watch Dealers get their Watches?

Just curious. I follow @watchmdiamond (https://www.instagram.com/watchmdiamond) on instagram and know that they always have the most sought-after models available for sale?

Such as 15202ST, 16202ST, 16202OR, 16407ST, 16407OR, daytona, aquanaunt, and nautilus.

How did they get these watches and resell them?

they buy them from other dealers or people reselling them. the watches you listed are only hard to get at msrp, when you have access to a global network of resellers they're easy to source

I was told that lots of these high demand pieces come from overseas Into the Grey market where the AP dealers are not owned or controlled by AP but had agreements put in place 10-20 years ago that has mandatory obligations

It’s quite common for “good” customers at ADs to flip to grey dealers for a profit. Of course, the margins have become so minuscule recently (given the downturn) that this has become less of a thing. But Daytonas and such… you better believe it.

Any watch is easily obtainable at the right price. Getting those pieces for retail is the hard part.

Probably from private individuals and perhaps even the AD:s. I once bought an ALS from a grey dealer. The papers were stamped by a Dutch ALS AD for the same day when I paid for it..just as an example. So in this case the watch actually came from an AD.
