Pam 1389 1/1000
Thinking about picking up the 1389 and the AD has batch 1/1000 is it worth more?

Very unlikely. While the annual production is limited, it's a regular production model.

I think there’s some coolness factor in being number 1/1000 but I doubt it would be worth more than any other number in the series. The 1389 is a great looking watch. I especially like it on the OEM orange rubber strap. I think you should only buy it if you love it and forget about resale value.

I absolutely disagree. There is no doubt that the first watch in a production series has greater incremental value than the other 999. This is simple economics. If there is a greater demand for #1/1000 than than for the other 999 units (I.e., there is somebody who thinks that is really cool and it differentiators it and thus they are willing to pay more), than it is incrementally more valuable. The question is whether you can quantify that incena value and whether that is a reason in and of itself to buy that particular PAM. I would estimate that the incremental value is app 5% for this particular PAM. The more years they produce the 138@, the lower the incremental value as there are now more than one of them.

given the way Panerai continues regular production on a yearly basis and just resets the the number... imho there is no material incremental value.
If it was a true no.1 out of the series and that's it? Then yes However that being said all things being equal it the AD gave me the choice of selecting 1 or another number, i'd pick 1....but i certainly would not pay more for it |

If there is, it's purely subjective and it's all about finding that ONE buyer who cares upon resale. Is there intrinsic value, IMHO no...
