16800 Submariner with Matte Dial and WG Surrounds?
At the AD today, and traded my 16610 for a birth year 16800.
Researching the dial today, and I’m finding a lot of different dial variants, but it seems inconclusive if a matte dial with the white gold surrounds ever existed. Most folks say they went from matte with painted lume to glossy with gold surrounds. However, the dial on this piece is certainly matte with gold surrounds. Unlikely it would have kates faded this way. Serial is in the 9,6xx,xxx dating to 1986, around the time of the debates dial transitions. Anyone know what’s gong |

Here is my 16800 from 1986. Looks very similar to the one in the photo you shared.
