Looking for recommendations for service.
I sent my 16030 Datejust to Rolex for service because it wasn't keeping proper time but they want to change the dial and hands for some unknown reason and won't do the service unless I agree to these unnecessary added charges.
I haven't been active her for several years so I'm looking for recommendations for a tech to restore the mechanism. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What does the estimate say specifically in relation to the hands and dial. Can you post a photo/scan of it?

Did they say why it wasn’t optional? Usually its recommended, but not required.

Unknown reason? I would demand to know why and wouldn't just give them free reign to switch out any externals unless you agree. There are plenty great independents that can service your DJ. I recently had my (1977) 16030 movement 'only' serviced last year without RSC. No way would I let anyone replace my dial without a good reason. Plenty good recommendations here on TRF

I called customer service yesterday and asked why they wanted to change the dial and was told there is "spots" on it, but I've had that watch for years and never saw any spots on the dial. So I asked if they had any affect on its time keeping and was told no.
Then I asked why they wanted to change the hands and was told they had "scratches" on them, but again I never saw any scratches on them and asked if that had any affect on its time keeping and was told no. They agreed that since they are cosmetic issues, despite the fact that none of these "issues" can be seen without a loupe (or so they claim) they would proceed with the service without those changes.... for one time only. Whatever that means. Regardless, I've had RSC service several watches and I've never had anything less than perfectly beautiful work done and this incident proves that they can be flexible when dealing with my concerns. So, I'm good.
