5160

Do you like 5160? I bought 5160J in 2012. Some collectors don’t like it because too much engrave. However, I like it very much. Then, I waited for another three years. My AD offered me 5160R couple days ago. I am so happy to accept the offer.

Smashingly beautiful workmanship!
Some say the day month date indications are a bit too small/uncomfortable.
What do you think?

Congrats Brian, that's definately a work of art.
Personally, I'm in the group that wouldn't wear a watch with that much engraving, but some can pull it off. You have to go with what works for you. Enjoy.

That is why I like 40mm. You will read better when you getting old.

Right now I am ok with the size between 38 and 40mm.

Hi Ken:

People are different. That is why Patek makes different style of watch. 5131 is my most faforite watch. However, I enjoy 5160 very much too.

I think you may like 5131.

stunning piece for sure, but as much as I find it beautiful I'm in the camp of those who would not wear a watch with so much engraving, but it's a beauty

The nice thing about the engravings is that it hides scratches very well

Sure Brian, it's already a stretch for me to wear a RG sports watch, wore the 116515 RG on strap at some point, so RG is not the problem, but I like simple not too "loud" models, for me the engravings as beautiful as they are are too "loud" IMO, I prefer much more the simpler RG models, but even if it's not for me it is a stunning watch

That's true, need to get me one as a daily/sports beater

Well I wouldn't be against a 5078 if I could afford it, yes Bas I know you will tell me that it's the definition of a dress watch and usually I don't like them, true but for something like a minute repeater, my favorite complication, I would like a very simple dial watch, no use for a PC, moon phase and others when you have a MR, plus it's the "entry level" point for a MR, so unless I win 100 million at the lottery, there is few hope, so I would get one of the cheapest, my favorite would be one with tourbillon and MR, usually don't care a lot for tourbillon but the 27 manual wound with MR and tourbillon is a work of art

5078P is a very nice watch. Simple and elegant.

I like Rolex DD. I can wear it all the time. Do not have to worry about the water.

Really, is it stronger than diamond? It must be expensive to fix the engrave. I always be careful when and where to wear 5160

Stunning piece for sure and my favourite complication as well, I had the pleasure of handling the Grönefeld MR a few weeks ago when I visited their workplace, hearing a minute repeater in real life is really really special.

Beautiful watch! If you get a chance, it would be nice to see the 5160J and 5160R side by side. From the pictures, it's hard to appreciate the RG color of your new watch. It's usually easier to appreciate it next to a YG watch.

Which minute repeater tourbillon is next to the 5160 showing on your post #3? That looks gorgeous, moreso that the 5160 if I may say so ;)
