Anniversaries and PM models if you want something different / special

Glad they don’t plough too many configs into the tool watch group, steel and traditional is good in my book. Works well for DJ though.

I like it this way.

I digress a bit, but I even regret the disappearance of lug holes. They went a little too far with the 114060 in my opinion.

But the answer to the question as offered is this: the dateless sub is the base model. It's presented as the entry-level sub, and so doesn't get more premium options. That's the same reason you don't see it in two-tone or gold.

(And, yes, many folks on this forum -- including me -- actually see the missing date as a good thing, but that's nonetheless not how Rolex is positioning the product.)

Genuine question, and appreciate your input.

I would be ok with this for a major milestone, like 75th anniversary.

The late generation 14060M was an anomaly relative to the rest of the Submariner lineup, especially when co-existing with the SubC Date. The lug holes made it a true “tool” watch.

No real reason to change the formula when they still sell every one they make almost instantly.

Very true.

I think they consider it the "entry level" Sub. If you want options gotta move up to Date and then PM

You can have the Submariner in any color you want, so long as its black!
