Bubbleback dial reprint?

Hi all,

What do you think?

Is this (40-ies rolex 2940) a dial reprint or not?

I hope to hear from you soon ,

Kind regards

O.S.

Bubbleback dial reprint?

I’m going to vote for reprint solely on the grounds of the color of the black paint, which looks too new to me. Perhaps a vintage refin. And is that an error on the 54 seconds mark? I think this would have been radium lime? Perhaps with signs of radium burn.

Generally I’d expect to see more fading and corrosion all around. I could be wrong but even if I’m not its still an attractive watch worth buying at the right price.

I know absolutely nothing about bubblebacks but are they really Oyster Perpetuals?

Obviously they were. I just tried to be smart.

As said. This is out of my confort zone. They were hot before I started with this silly hobby.

Fairly certain that the dial is original based on the fonts of the printing.

I think the print may be original, but my opinion is that the lume has been redone, it looks to thick and absolutely no patina, unusual for a 70 year old watch.

Maybe replaced due to radioactivity?
