Correct, but you can just take it off...and I'm sure it wouldn't take RSC 2 hours to notice that your watch is on a NATO.

Edit: Actually, if you're OK with them discarding the strap, they'll service it. I once sent in a watch on a worn-out, worthless aftermarket leather strap. I asked to buy a new strap with the service, and it came back on a nice new strap, no problem.

RSC BH told me my GMT 16700 clasp was not original to the watch. They did not insist I change it, since it was Rolex, they just asked me. I did have them change it

What did you tell the lady at the front desk after you dropped off the watch? Did you say you were going to go out for a walk and look around the area and the store and will be back later? Was it you that took the two hours? Maybe because of what you told them so they thought they would wait for you to return then tell you about the clasp.

Or maybe your watch wasn't the only one they have to work on at that time, I am pretty sure there were others in front of you and your watch had to sit there for an hour or two before getting to the technician.

It could be any of these reasons or another. I highly doubt they would make you wait 2 hours then tell you they can't service the watch.

Sorry to hear about that. I have been to the BH RSC several times. They have free parking, chocolates and water, and have been nice to me every time.
