Numbers on certificate
Can anyone help shine some light on this cert. The numbers don't correspond to the case or movement number of the watch. The number seems too low to be a serial (dated 1972). What does the "4374" refer to?

Wouldn't the 4374 be the cert#? This watch didn't come with the full page Chrono cert.

Don't know..
I would say that that cert is a non-authentic copy

But those aren't right either..
If those were authentic and came with the watch then the No: XXXXXXX would be the serial number of the watch, not the model number. Having a model number there is pretty meaningless as they then don't really go with any watch in particular. They can also be copied with almost any decent copy machine Those style certs are actually fold-up booklets and were used for about 10 years, up until ~1966. On the back they would have (in tri-fold) the instructions on how to use the watch.. gty-foldout-66-b.jpg

As Larry has said, these certs were used from 1955 to 1966....... So definitely not in 1972 when punched papers were in use.....
See the attached website, which is great for accessory information..... http://www.rolexephemera.com/Guarant...uts-master.htm |

It's a trifold, but I think you guys are right. This cert doesn't belong to the watch. Likely, the date and store were written after the fact (blue ink).
If the 4374 is not a serial but rather a model #, it poses the question... what the heck is a model 4374? |
