Daytona White VS Black
Hello again, I'm having another confusing decision and I figure my watch family on the forums could help me out. As I've stated before my current collection consist of a Omega speedy moon 3570.50, an Ap Royal oak 15202 white dial which tappestry almost makes it cream off white colored. A Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 Blue dial a Rolex Daytona 116520 black dial and now the new addition is the Rolex Gmt Master stainless black ceramic. My question is I have the option to trade my black Daytona to a white Daytona same condition same year everything even trade. Now I'm a little confused I've owned the white one before and loved it then sold it and bought a black one later because I couldn't live without a Daytona. Now given my current collection to have the diversity should I trade for the white dial. At the position I'm in I think the only changes to the collection in the near future will be the addition of a hulk and their is always a small possibility I trade my Black GMT for a BLNR. But other then that I have nothing planned, from my research I've noticed the black seems to command a little bit of a higher premium and is a little more scarce. But all the same Daytona is a Daytona in resale and love by watch enthusiasts. So based on my collection now and the possibility in the future do you think I should do the trade or keep my black one.
Thank you to everyone in advance!!!!! |

It sounds like you already know your preferences since you've owned both the white and black dialed ones. But looking at your collection and with my experience, I did have some legibility issues with the black. So I'd personally make that trade.

Given your collection I think you should do the trade.

I would trade, since I like the white dial better and feel it would complement your collection better.

I don't know I think the black Daytona offers enough contrast that it stands out from the group. I almost think the white dial would be the odd guy out. Personally I'd stick with the black.

Thanks for the quick replies guys, Im having the same contemplation as it being odd from everything else. But it almost seems like with what I got I need the brightness in the collection. Does anyone have any suggestions of altering the collection altogether like trading other stuff around. Or maybe even suggesting not buying a hulk next and buying something else or trading something I have plus hulk money for another watch that would make the collection more well rounded.

Also, all my watches get wrist time so when I say well rounded collection I mean to wear not lock up in a safe. Another thing I can't do gold as much as I would think to go white gold sub or gold GMT it's not something I can do, but I can wear platinum.

I personally like the black better. Has the chance to buy both, tried them on side by side, just thought the black had more "Pop" and the white was a little washed out. Either is nice.

I love the red lettering on the white dial. It's my favorite watch I've ever put on my wrist.

Get the white. There just aren't enough quality white dialed watches out there and there is a place for a white one in every collection.

Not very long ago I bought the black, thought it would look more "sporty." Ended up flipping for the white. Personally I think the white just looks better. It's also true what they say, the white is easier to read.

Had the same choice white n black, took 2 hours but went with white just because it's easier to read. A little hacked off that the black has a premium though. A daytona is a daytona isn't it? And IMHO white non zenith does look better.

Well it looks like the white wins!!!! I especially agree with "kings4sap", there really just aren't enough good white dialed watches. I figure in the future almost every good watch I will end up buying looks better in a darker dial so that swayed my decision for white. If it was my only watch then I would probably go black but as all of us enthusiasts know that's just unrealistic lol. Thank you to all and as always I much appreciate the help and support!!!

Black all day, more legible, more visually interesting, and this is coming from a guy that doesn't much like the daytonas after the four digit references.

I prefer the look of the black, but the white may be more legible. It is a toss-up.

I prefer the white dial Daytona - and think it will compliment your collection better as well - but if you decide to stick with the black you can't go wrong with that either!
Good luck |
