From one watch nut to another... Leave it be...

Don't have someone other than riki, abc, or mike young
Even attempt a repair. I'm not sure whom dalton is, but
If he comes recommended id consider him too. I think
The repair is going to be a tap and refinish. Not certain
If that really requires a laser weld.

It's really not that bad. Unless it's going to drive you completely
Nanners, try to appreciate the fact that it's your dent on an
Amazing watch.

Are these repairs pricey?

Very sorry to see/hear of this. I completely understand your concern as I would be sick as well. I would certainly try the laser welding or whatever possible to get it as new. I too would be unable to live with the dent I am afraid.

Rikki did mine after a much worse dent. It was perfect. Send it to him. You won't be disappointed.

To be perfectly honest, I'd just leave it. It's not like it's a big gouge out of the crystal or anything.

Actually, that's not exactly so. I got a very similar dent in the side of my DJ case when a screw somehow backed itself out of the bracelet and it fell off my wrist onto a pool deck at a cocktail party. By the way, it was hardly noticeable and I just lived with it.

If it bothers you send to the RSC and they will laser weld and re-polish. Rolex will be able to match the gold best.

Wouldn't bother me at all after a day or two of fuming. Have the bottom tapped flat if it irritates your wrist.

You could always sell with full disclosure and buy another.

Good luck, sorry it's causing stress in your life.

Very sorry to hear this! A similar thing happened to me. Only a week after I brought home my new Explorer I, I was sealing the roof line by the gutters. I forgot to take my watch off and scratched the crystal, still there after 10 years.

Years ago, I was quite shocked to find out that my Rolex President case-sides and lugs are hollow, which doesn't help with dents and dings! I'm not sure if the same is correct for the stainless watches.

There's an extremely good laser wielder in the UK. His work is shown extensively on TZ-UK. Definitely don't send you watch to the USA.

Hi I live in dubai and had a similar if not worse dent on a K series sub date.
Seddigi repaired it like new. This was in 2006.
You can Send it to them for review. It is one of the better RSC in the world. Very competent.
Make sure you tell them to contact you before any thing is done. Be clear because the info conveyed to them is only as good as the store sales person writing down what you say.
Message me for contact details of people at RSC.

I don't think they all do, but some might. On the other hand, I'm not even sure if they all polish with a lapping machine.

they are rich enough to purchase lapping machines isn't it?

i've spoken to a polishing manager at rsc. i was told that they will even up the surface on the edges of those sports model casing before polishing. I do not know whether does that mean they will be using a lapping machine.

Ask the RSC in Dubai, but also check with one in the UK or find a good goldsmith in the UK ( wouldn't trust it anywhere else)....only other option is a re-ca$e

I know Bexley in the UK had a lapping machine and was considered the place to send your watch if you cared about a "Bexley edge" (a chamfer). At that time the lapper was rare. I don't know if that has changed.

My watchmaker spent many years training people at RSC Dallas and the Rolex school in PA - I won't say anything specific, but he wasn't overly positive on the quality of the work coming out of the polishing room. Honestly, I've seen some sub-par results that would be hard to achieve with a lapping machine. Maybe things have improved in the last few years.

recase is probably not an option.

i've asked and a stainless case for sports model cost usd $3400 to replace.

i do not know how much it cost for a yellow gold case.

also. can we keep the yellow gold casing and wear it on the necklace?

Dents are one of the only thing you get for free from Rolex . . .

It happens when you wear it . .

Otherwise you need to put it in a vault . . .

Next service it will be gone

The Easter Bunny just promised it

I gook a serious fall and did far worse to a gold Yacht Master. Took it too RSC in London when I lived there. They took it in....it looked terrible!
Collected a couple of weeks later....IT LOOKED PERFECT...ABSOLUTELY LOOKING BRAND SPANKING NEW!

Ps...I also dropped a watch. Thought it was OK. Few years layer noticed discoloring on hands. Took in back to Panerai and was advised that athough appeared OK a seal had been compromised. It got fixed ...dont assume anything Id get it checked that was wuite a bang.
Good luck.
