Newby Question on Crown

I have a couple of questions about the crown.....
I am the proud new owner of a 39mm Explorer. This is my first mechanical watch in the last 45 or so years.
I do not wear the watch in the shower, but I do wash it every few weeks.

Last night I discovered that the crown was not tight. It required about a 1/4 turn to become tight. Do you think that any moisture or other bad stuff may have entered the watch? If so, what do I do?

Secondly, how tight should the crown be wound in? I now have it about 1/8 of a turn past where you can feel it first contacting the rubber bushing. Sound about right?

Your watch is ok, just tighten it finger tight.

Your watch is fine, no worries. And don't over tighten...just finger tight is fine.

The sealing o-rings are inside the watch around the stem.. Absolutely nothing could have crept into your watch, even it it had been fully unscrewed.. Twin-lock, one set of primary seals inside the watch and a secondary gasket in the crown - both would have to fail before anything could get inside..

Your crown does not need to be more than finger tight
