Icon5 Do you drink milk?

After asking this quite a few people I'm actually quite surprised that there aren't that many adults that still drink milk daily, or at all even.

I drink about 1l of whole milk every day, usually 400ml in a whey shake and the rest just cold in a glass. I love the stuff

So, do you drink milk?

I used to drink milk here in the U.K. when full cream milk was available but now rarely seen.
The milk available at the supermarkets (all homogenised?) is parody of its former self.
I now drink soya milk.

My brothers and I argue about this, ha ... I drink real whole milk often and my bros try to convince me to drink the new fangled soy milk made in a factory...

Milk should come from a cow, imo

Skim milk for me, but only a half gallon a week or so.
Most of it for my delicious fruit smoothies.

I quite agree, soy is an endocrine disrupter and the long term effects haven't been studied. The ill effects seem to start with posting Instagram photos making the soy face and it only goes down hill from there.

Stick with the cow milk. At worst it might make you a bit fatter.

Took myself down to Waitrose and bought a bottle of ‘full cream’ unhomogenised ‘with the cream on the top’ gold top milk from the U.K. from Jersey cows.

When purchased the cream had not separated to provide ‘cream on the top’ and overnight in the fridge proved the same.

The milk tasted OK’ish. But not as I can recall past ‘Channel Islands’ milk which used to have a cream layer of about a third of the bottle.

The fat content: 5% . My soya milk: 1.8%.
Going on my memory of about thirty years ago I can recall talking to Guernsey (Channel Islands) farmer who I am sure said that he had to export to the U.K. only milk which had a 15%(?) fat content.
However, on a visit to the U.K. mainland he was very surprised to see that Guernsey milk was being sold at only 10%(?) fat content.

On making enquiries he was told that milk sold generally in supermarkets and shops is made to a specification and can be made up to whatever the buyer requires.

Having changed to Soya some years ago in a failed endeavour to reduce my
cholesterol.
But at least it is static, am not sure if this milk has sufficient ‘quality’ to make me change.
But will be sampling from time to time.

Homogenisation is simply dispersing the cream within the milk rather than it floating on the top.
Get yourself to Sainsbury’s and grab some Gold Top or their own brand of Jersey & Guernsey milk.

My family goes through a lot of low fat milk per week. My oldest daughter has never even tasted soda; for her it’s milk or water.

my oldest is 5 and a half... never once stepped foot in McDonalds nor had fast food. Clearly no soda either.

uh oh. I get kidney stones (its been a while though) and all they told me was stop drinking black tea. if you drink tea when can find out who has the better doctor

Tea made no sense to me but milk does as its calcium

Sorry to hijack thread—Common misconception with kidney stones; you need moderate calcium intake to help combat stone formation (generally speaking)
As far as black tea, it is high in oxalate, a stone promoter. Incidentally, cashews and almonds are high in oxalate, so if you are drinking this kind of milk to stay away from calcium and kidney stones, you are probably actually doing more harm!

It’s got to be one of the most unnatural things we humans do in my opinion. If we wouldn’t suckle on another species why would we share bodily fluids. Hahahaha each to their own but I find it weird
