Screwed by Tournaeu AD huntington station,NY

Hello all,

So I've been on the list for a batman for a while now. Thursday night I finally get a call saying that the watch would be there in Sunday or Monday and that I should come in to put down the full deposit. I let the salesman know I live 45 miles away and would like to pay over the phone but he told me it's against Rolex policy, understandable. I then told him that I would be on the way. I proceeded to call him when I was 20 minutes away to let him know. Then once more when I was five minutes away at which point he told me someone came in and just bought the watch! It was a horrible experience but im not sure there's much I can do about it now.

Does anyone know of any AD's in NY that currently have one? And are they all like this?

Thanks

That's very frustrating, I'm sorry. I've heard nothing but bad things about Tournaeu.

So sorry to hear this OP! You kept the sales associate (SA) in the loop along the way, they should have held the watch until you got there.

Was it sold by another SA who wasn't aware you were on the way or the same SA?

All flippancy aside, that really sucks. I'd be furious if it had happened to me, but as you say, what can you do? I'd say take your money elsewhere, but I'm at a loss as to tell you where, given the watch you're after. Best of luck all the same.

Even with all the craziness going on today, that's absolutely infuriating. I'd be on the phone with the manager. If that doesn't work, go higher up in Tourneau. Terrible customer service.

Also, fwiw, "Rolex" does not have a policy regarding taking payment over the phone. Don't fall for that. It's completely up to the retailer. Many ADs have no problem taking a CC over the phone.

To bad OP, you really got jerked around. Not being able to take a deposit over the phone? Rolex policy? that BS I gave deposits by phone when I was out of town. The problem was it being a hot model and you got passed over. There's more to come maybe you should deal with another AD and for a piece like that you may want to pay upfront. Good luck and don't give up !

The problem with this recommendation is (1) the watch is already gone, and (2) even if it isn't, it would mean he's still doing business with Tourneau.

That just plain sucks. They could have told the buyer that the watch was already spoken for, since they knew you were on your way.

What a bunch of a-holes.

Sorry you lost out.

that part is true. I suppose if you have shopped in the store before it may be different, but phone sales are a no no

True on #2. Regarding #1, it may get him the next BLNR that comes up, which is likely better than he'd do starting from scratch at another AD.

No great options here, unfortunately.

Fair point. If OP really wants the BLNR, perhaps he'd still be willing to make a pact with the devil.

Is a deposit to secure the watch considered a sale of the watch? He'd still be paying the balance and picking up the watch in person.
