Chopard Alpine Eagle
Just saw this in the flesh today. I quite like it.
Give it 6 months and they will likely knock off 35% from retail. Buy preowned and get another 25% off. Any thoughts on the design |

I like it too. Although the watch is 41mm, it seems to wear smaller than the 41 size in photos at least.
I am tired of each steel sports watch being classified a clone of AP/Patek. It seems that octagonal design seems to be a patent of 2 brands in eyes of the collectors. I am not sure it will sell for 60% off its price at any point but I will be happy to grab one if it happens. |

I love Chopard. I wish their LUC line had much more recognition. I think its an iconic model for the brand.

The dials are interesting and something not taken from the others

I really did not like it, but a few of my friends have seen it in person and mentioned it looks a lot better than pictures. Guess its a must see to appreciate piece

I have just seen them in person and they look nothing like a RO in real life

Lies. Every sports model ever made is a derivative of the RO.

Saw it in a shop window.. was elegant but can't get over the VC gen 1 bracelet, the Hublot looking bezel screws and general RO look alike.
More interesting I think is that they made a new type of steel with more 'purity' which is harder and more scratch resistant. Maybe Rolex is behind in this area now. |

I had a look at them today. They look pretty good in person and are naturally well built. I felt they wore smaller than 41mm. Also the bracelet is nothing like the old VC bracelet in person. The dials were unique.
I wouldn’t get one but this model definitely presents a solid option for someone looking for a good looking steel watch. |

How do the bracelets work? I saw a picture with the center portion out and their is a screw in there. I was curious how the center part attaches, etc.

Love their LUC stuff. For the price and aesthetic, I much prefer the Bulgari Octo Finissimo as it has a much more distinctive design and true horological chops

Chopard Alpine Eagle
On design, meh. If I saw you wearing it, would I think what a sucker? No. I happen to like Chopard as a watch manufacturer.
I don’t disagree with previous comments about derivation. The screwed in bezels are derivative of RO and it’s evil bastard child, the Big Bang. The bracelet looks just like the VC. The shape is vaguely Nautilis in the case. But I fully agree with the previous comment that almost all steel sports watches are derivatives of the Royal Oak. including the Nautilus. Truthfully, there are only so many variations you can come up with. RM is probably the most unique variation and it frequently gets crucified by us. We are a fickle lot. RM would be unique if it weren’t for using Franck Muller’s Curvex case design as a blueprint. The Alpine Eagle’s bracelet, exactly like that of the revised version of the St Moritz in 1998, is nothing like the VC Overseas Gen 1’s – any resemblance is tenuous, at best. |

I agree,
Anybody who complains about the Alpine Eagle bracelet being „exactly like“ the Overseas has never seen the watch in person or needs an eye check. And even if, the St. Moritz was around when VC was not even dreaming about issueing the Overseas. And the St. Moritz was pretty successfully back then. |

Just saw this watch today and had it on my wrist.
As a former ROO owner I can only say what a stunning piece it is. I am feeling very attracted to this watch, I must admit. I does look on the small side but so does the Nautilus. This could be a good seller for Chopard and attract a totally new audience.

Chopard Alpine Eagle
I tried the 41m steel blue face and its an absolute stunner. So many comments on the web about ripping off AP, Patek etc. I think they have bought something unique to the genre, the dial is really unlike anything I have seen in terms of texture/look feel. What isn't picked up on is how the lucent steel makes the watch appear in real life. Its has a vibrancy and almost white gold look, really pops and if it scratches less then that's amazing (time will tell). I would have walked out the shop with it there but could not shake the feeling that I could probably pick this up for a third less in a few months. Its definitely one I will be acquiring at some point

If the center links weren't raised, I would have bought one already. That is one of the best dials on the market and the watch wears just under 41. Chopard is one of my favorite manufacturers, I am a big LUC guy. However, when I tried the watch on the center bothered me.

I saw it irl and quite like it. The finishing on the case and bracelet is good and the dial pops. My gripes are the position of the screws on the bezel and also it kind of... look like the Nautilus case.

Tried one on in Singapore. Was offered a slight discount. If it was a LUC micro rotor I would have been tempted to buy it. But for a 12k watch it’s hard to beat imo. The biggest issue for me as with the integrated bracelet it wears super small. I would say it wears closer to a 38mm watch then a 41mm. It was super tiny on my wrist. The dial is beautiful. I’m glad I held out for my DJ41. But if I was in the market for a watch close to 10k and wanted a blue dial this would be a strong contender. The dial is amazing.
