222 price increase before shipping?

I was browsing on the VC site and noticed that the 222 is now listed at $69000 while I was quoted for $62500 before by a boutique. Was I just being misquoted? Or VC decided to increase the price due to demand before the first one is being shipped?

If I had to guess, probably increase due to demand because I also saw it was $62500. VC did this with a couple of models such as the fifty-six blue dial on bracelet and fifty-six day-date. I noticed this because I frequently check their website and noticed price changes on a few models randomly. This wasn’t an increase across the entire brand. Sneaky sneaky.

Very strange move. Did anyone manage to put down a deposit and lock in the old price?

I spoke with one of the VC directors in NA about the ladies perpetual calendar for my wife when it was released. He mentioned that the price right now is $84k and that there is a good chance the price might change (increase) before the release. I think Richmont is going to be increasing the pricing across all their brands. Inflation is a b****

The boutique told me that they do not have allocation for any of the W&W novelty yet so I don’t even know if I can get the watches I put my name down.

But oddly, I am supposed to be getting a 4500V soon but they also did not want deposit yet.

watch companies under the umbrella of a listed group have these issues I guess. They have the pressure of needing to capture the moment and make profits, meanwhile Rolex, PP and AP have the freedom to take their time to play the long game. I suspect, not only did VC increase the price, but it's going to make as many as anyone is willing to buy.

I can’t agree with your last sentence.
They are going to make way fewer than the market will take. People have to remember that VC make only about 15000 pieces a year. They can’t add a new watch and pump out a couple of thousand just because.

This watch will be as rare as they come. I suspect that it will be in the order of 200-300 a year globally.

And there won’t be a SS version in a hurry, maybe ever.

And I want one badly!

Either there are bunches of people that have been allocated one already with price lock, or vc and richemont are being absolute huge dick
The truth is probably a bit of both though

There will be 222's to go around. They will produce this watch for quite a while I would imagine. Patience is probably the answer.

No there will not. This sits within the historiques range.

The 222 numbers are not a limited edition but it is limited production.

Well it depends what you compare it to right. 222 vs Tourbillon Skeleton then yeah it looks like theres gonna be a whole lot of 222's being made. 222 vs 4500v then yeah it looks like theres not gonna be many. That all said, I watched a few interviews of Christian Selmoni and he basically implied this model will be around for a while. There will be many years to get a 222 essentially.

I think the real question is: if someone put down his name on the interest list, which one will come first? 222, 4500v blue dial or OS Tourbillon skeleton? As you said, it is all relative both in supply and demand. If a boutique gets 5 222 per year and there are 10 people on the list, it will take 2 years to get one. Similarly if there are 20 4500v coming in per year and there are already 100 people on the list, it would take 5 years.

Of course all the numbers above are my makeup numbers since I have no idea but I think the number of people on the interest list for a 222 or Oversea Tourbillon Skeleton must be much fewer than the 4500v blue. It has to be true since the boutique is still taking names for both of these models but not a 4500v.

BTW, anyone know if any of the boutiques gets its allocations for 222 or the TSO yet?

So I had the same issue with another Richemont Brand (JLC). I got to see a preview of watches before W and W. I put a deposit on one. When it was released, the price was increased by 10 percent. The Boutique actually reached out to me and told me they would honor the lower quoted price. So I got a discount from the boutique! LOL.
