Advice on the speed master triology

My AD called to offer me one of the last available speed master trilogy. I was not so eager to get it but now I am hesitant. It is a cool watch but very expensive. Not so keen about it, but why not. If it was speedy Tuesday I wouldn't have any moment of hesitation.

What do you guys think of that? Should get it or pass?

It is almost double the price of the normal speedy with hesalite crystal. And not sure of its investment potential.

I would be very hesitant to buy any Omega if resale value/investment potential is a primary motivator. That said, I'm not a fan of the "aged lume" thing they're doing with their reissues, but otherwise I think it's a great looking watch. I really like the vintage style signing on the clasp and dial, and the retro box is a nice touch too.

Perhaps you should post this question in the Omega forum and see what their members think

It’s a great watch. Lovely bracelet, along with strap and nato - incredibly versatile like most speedys. The aged lume is ok actually and it’s fair to say the watch would look odd with white lume. I love mine but we are all different. Yes the price is quite steep, but is a near perfect remake of a classic reference.

Here is a pic to encourage you!

I actually prefer it over the speedy Tuesday because of the slim lugs case. It is quite expensive, but IMO, its the nicest remake / limited edition Omega has done.

It seems to be keeping its value on the used market, but I didn't get it for that.

I like the watch but not the price. I think that with the large number of Speedmaster models you can find several other ones that you will like as much and not be committed with so much money.

The 57 LE is something special it is a big price for a Speedy but it is so well made with so many lovely details. The faux patina is actually better looking in real life than photos and as already said it would look wrong if it were white. I didn't buy mine as some sort of investment but I think the 57 will not do too badly in the future.

Like, I’d buy and have. Size is great for me but the straight lugs means it doesn’t wear small IMO.

I would not buy a watch just to buy it, buy what sings to you! Otherwise you will end up selling it.

I decided to pass, didn’t sing to me when I saw it in person. Also, despite being official omega dealer, they asked for $8200 which is more than 1000 above official price announced by omega in Basel 2017 (CHF 6700). We have no tax here, so what is the point of AD asking for premium?

Thanks for all the advices...

The point? More profit. You should put one on and wear it inside and out. The bracelet alone is reason enough to love the 60th Speedmaster. Buy one secondhand for 7500 in new condition. The prices will head upward very soon.

I would have bought it in a heartbeat but for the fake lume. I was hoping for a non LE with regular lume at Basel.

With the help of a great member here, I managed to get one from an AD in USA with much better (I would say fair) price. It is really cool piece. Will post incoming later when I get it sized.

Glad it worked out for you in the end, great photo's. I bought mine sight unseen as it was at a great price but when I first saw it I was a little under-whelmed. It grew on me over the next few days, as there are so many lovely details on the watch. It is an absolute classic enjoy

PASS!! Omega has too many damn limited editions!! Personally, I would rather have an vintage CK2998 or Apollo 11 Panda Dial. Vintage all the way, they only get better with time since we all want something we can't have. Just my 2 cents!
