First Radiomir to Purchase..?

Hi All,

So i have a Pam 233 dot dial and naturally thinking of getting a Radiomir so i can have 2 different styles of Panerai. This is going to be my only Radiomir as i only want to keep to 2 Panerai in the collection, nothing more. I am looking at getting something that is iconic, not just "flavor-of-the month" kind and to some extent holds its value.

Appreciate the members' thoughts and recommendations on this.

Cheers.

If the subject is Radiomir, then Mik is really the man to answer, but I'll give my input on the most classic of Rads: 232 (or 249).

I'd take a closer look at the 190 :)

Depending on how much you want to spend the 690 is a great choice. It has a beautiful blue dial. I just picked up the 577 and can not stop wearing it.

Did someone say 690

OP, if you can find one, I highly recommend it. CRU and Paul are mostly responsible for this one

Seeing some of the later posts, I'll follow up as follows:

* Radiomir (classic wire lugs, onion crown): 232 (or 249 if you want the Cali dial....or 210 if you want a little smaller)

* 1940 Radiomir (Luminor lugs, smaller crown): 690

There are of course many other fine examples (see the 577 above or 190 or 183/380 or 292/643 or 619), but I think those above are "Radiomir (1940 Radiomir) icons"....

Thanks, please keep them coming..!

I prefer the normal dial. Not used to the cali dials.

Yes, the 690 is beautiful. What is the pricing on those? Can't seem to find that.

The Pam 232 is certainly nice.

Cheers.

If you can pull off 47mm..232 is a great value..
or if you want to go new the 720/721 are both nice..
I only have the 190 for the last 8 years and its a keeper...

690, 720, 721 are in a league of their own. 232 is a beauty as well...

If you want something different - go with a classic Radiomir with wire lugs...

Lots of great Radiomirs. I think a base Rad or one with only a sub-seconds dial is probably the truest in spirit. I like to save complications for Luminors.

Pleased with the 720. It's the only Radiomir that I have. Easy and fun to change straps, too.

I like the 1940 case the best. It’s kind of like a hybrid case.

I’ve owned both. 232 wears smaller than 190

I just picked up a 232 myself. It's the best deal going on a limited edition Panerai and the look is classic all the way.

The 232 is the icon IMHO and the ONE to own. The profile and lack of crown guard mean the 232 doesn't wear as large as a 372, or a 305 for example. It's also very affordable right now. Don't settle for anything but a complete set if you go this route. They're out there.

Good luck and let us know what you choose.
