I still don't understand how you didn't see this at the AD BEFORE you purchased it. Did you even LOOK at the watch?

What I do not understand is how can someone compare building a Silver Shadow with a Submariner. I would be fun to see someone build them at the same rate...

I'd find a competent jeweler and rip the watch apart.
Then take high resolution pictures of the movement etc.
Also take a clear shot of the Back of the Dial.
If this is one mistake in a million watches Rolex made, you are on the way to being famous for owning such an incredible error Rolex made DJII.
Return it for an exchange?
Do you want to return an error printed stamp to the Post Office and get back your 42 cents?

The Silver Shadow back then took a little longer to build then todays Phantom but where do you see someone comparing building a Shadow to a Submariner?

Why are you not running to the dealer you bought it from for a refund or exchange?

Why waste time writing to Rolex Geneva at this point? You can take photos print them out and write a letter after you return the watch. You have to understand that in the best case they would ask you to send it back (on your dime, to Switzerland) then wait while they fix it and send it back weeks later.

I would only write a letter and go through all the headaches if I was emotionally attached to the watch.

Well sorry you have eyes to look when you bought it, and those are the same eyes that have typed your post on forum. So if you see it now why the hell did you not see something was wrong when you bought it that mistake on the dial stands out like a sore thumb.

Okay! Enough. I almost choked on my lunch laughing at your last sentence. This has been fun, but now I see that your toying with us. If you can't "find" the email to Rolex on your own I now know that you are pulling our legs. This is some funny stuff BUT if this watch didn't come outta a gumball machine and is in fact real, keep it for 20 years then sell it. However I am 100% confident now that this watch is a fake.

And to what end??? They will tell you (rightly so) to send it in so that they can replace the dial. It is a mass produced watch ... not pixie dust. Assuming it is real that is.

Ah, the uber-rare 'on-the-piss' dial. Keep it dude! Write to Christie's and Sotheby's in about 40 years and you won't need a pension.

Before this thread goes on please answer my below question.

You have eyes to look when you bought it, and those are the same eyes that have typed your post on forum. So if you see it now why the hell did you not see something was wrong when you bought it that mistake on the dial stands out like a sore thumb.

life isnt about perfection , dreams are about perfection ,
if its man made it can have faults ,, engineering isnt about no faults ,
its about how we fix them.

so , if its real , and its a big if , recipt , box papers etc . ,,, id keep it
buy another dial and handset ,,,, then decide in a year or two.
lots of time before a service to worry about what to do... if its a fake
get all of your twenty dollars back , or swap it for two pateks.
