Mods need to move this to the "WATCHOUT" sub forum where it clearly states "real/fake discussion, authenticity discussion", etc. I saw a guy in NYC a year ago wearing a Platona. I complimented him on it and he said thx and handed it to me to look at. I immediately knew it was fake bc of the weight. I then smiled and said nice watch, and he fessed up and told me it was a fake bezel and dial on a 116520. He was trying to portray owning a Platona. If you want to be original, then be original, don't make a cheap replica from a true classic. Done and done.....

So if you like the blue dial/bezel better you have to spend another $20,000? But I bet if he changed it to a green dial/bezel it wouldn't be much of a discussion. .

It's not like it's spray painted gold or plastered with fake diamonds.

Go flame Bamford or Tempus. Or anyone with an aftermarket strap.

It's a genuine Rolex. He's not trying to pass off as something it's not, he just likes the blue.

As for me, I have no problem with modifications such as a jubilee on the BLNR or a red date wheel on the original SS PLT YMI but I like to keep it all OEM. Anything aftermarket or altered like the dial I am personally not a fan of. That's just me. Enjoy the watch
Thanks, yep I'm happy . . . gotta admit I was surprised but only because I posted in other fora and did not receive the negative feed back but hey this is still fun

It's not like he's trying to pass it off as the real deal.

Why $20K? He is not passing off an SS as a PM watch, that is not the issue. Me and most here are saying they only like OEM parts as that is in the SPIRIT of this forum. A dial and bezel would cost under $2K.

And my biggest issue is he was lied to. That is not a real OEM dial sprayed blue as claimed, so I would have thought at least the OP would want his money back on the fake dial, so I was actually doing him a favour, just as all the guys in the watch out section are doing on a daily basis.

Thank you very much! Yes, though the bending was never my intent, it has been much fun I must say.

Happy New Year to you also, hope you will have the best ever!!

Most likely is an OEM dial. Dial restorers or modifiers sometimes have to re-spray the logo and other writing. Rolex does not restore dials and to my knowledge does not provide the templates/tools to redo a refinished dial.

i like it because of why he did it. Necessity is the mother of invention. Life is too short to get bent about someone else's stuff. There's alot of thin skinned folks showing they're true colors over something that doesn't effect them at all. Cheap entertainment. I like it, I like it, I like it, So there.

Is your watch and you can do what you want! If you like it, is enough!!
I would like to do the same with my 5 digit sub. But that's impossible...(No original parts available)

Good point

I would have it opened up ASAP.. why didn't the seller offer the original parts with the sale, maybe he sold them separately.
