The ADs are, or should be upfront so it’s not a surprise that you’re not getting your warranty card. You’d likely sign an agreement before your watch is even sized on your wrist.

You can choose to accept the terms or leave the Watch. No one is forcing you buy with the terms.

Paying then demanding the card when you already know the terms is a strange thing to do and will just aggrevate the situation, where ultimately the AD would more likely refund you than back down and hand over the card, if that’s their rules.

Either way it’s simple.....take it or leave it (the Watch). The way the UK is, they’ll just call next on the list.

We got both our warranty cards (wife got 2 tone DJ and I got anniversary Sea-Dweller). Then again they knew we bought the watches as legacy gifts for our niece and nephew when they are adults (they are 2 and 5 years old).

For me, this is not a big issue. The watch has the warrant anyway. Period. You have your purchase invoice and receipt that includes the serial number. If they want to keep that little plastic card, pls go ahead and do so. It would have kept me from spending $7k more on my new Daytona C and over $10k more on my incoming Pepsi. It is just a small gesture from Rolex to get watches to the people that really want them at MSRP.

Anyway, if you still want to resell your watch without a card with the same condition that you would provide the card in 1 year, go ahead. The consumer market will be ok with that.

Three weeks ago my AD hasn't heard of this tactic at all. I wonder if it is only for certain models to be on this hit list ?

The AD that got me my first Rolex (SD43) knows that some AD's are holding warranty cards. I asked here about a black Daytona, and offered to let them hold the box an papers for a year if they were able to source the watch. She is working on getting me one.

Retention of warranty card

Whilst I understand the reason for retaining the card for a year and you have to agree; otherwise they will not put you on the waiting list for professional watches; I am not convinced it is a legal practice. Once you pay for something it is yours in it's entirity. Box papers and all might be worth contacting trading standards to ascertain legal position?
