I've inherited a Rolex

Hi everyone. I have been left a Rolex watch in a roundabout way. When my auntie died about ten years ago I was lucky enough to be given heaps of her things. So lying in my bedside table drawer has been a Rolex watch that I believe would have been my aunties fiances. He died in the late sixties/ early seventies. It's an Oyster Perpetual , I guess it's Stainless Steel, it has the day and date on it. The seconds hand has a little red jewel on the end of it.
I have no idea about Rolex watches so I thought it was about time I did!
I guess the most important thing I need to know is it real and if yes, how much it it valued at.
I have no reason to believe the watch would be fake, especially if my auntie bought it for him. She liked very fine things :)
I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me.
Thank you
Ronda

Without photos, it's hard to be sure. But If it's stainless steel and has day and date, I'm afraid it's a fake. Day-Date models of Rolex have always been available only in precious metals (gold, rose gold, white gold, & platinum). Also, the red on the second hand is another indicator that it's not genuine. Sorry.

I've tried to upload a photo from my phone but it's too big. Once I work out how to resize pics on my phone I will post.
The more I think about it. the person who would have owned this watch was in the airforce in the 50s and 60s so he probably had ample opportunity to get his hands on a fake watch..
If my auntie had bought it that's a different story but I really have no idea.
Thanks for everyone's input :)

What does being in the Air Force (in any decade) have to do with buying fake watches?

Understood. But, there are plenty of careers involving traveling, (not mention just traveling for leisure), just as there are plenty of opportunities to buy fake watches in one's home town. I could go to Chinatown right now and buy a hundred. I just think this whole post seems....dubious.

Your very first post requested opinions on a Tudor.

You had two replies but you disappeared on that thread.

Wow what a cynical bunch!

Thanks to the people who have helped me with pleasant replies.
I definitely have had this watch since my auntie died in 2006. I believe it was her fiancees. I did not think that forgeries were a big thing so I thought seeing as her fiance was in the airforce he would have traveled a bit. He served in Malaysia. I know that because I have his medals.
I am thinking it may be a fake as I read that a real Rolex is magnified over the date. I don't think this one is. If anyone is happy for me to email a photo to them i can. As I said, I took the photo on my phone and have no idea how to shrink it to fit the requirements of this forum.
The end :)

Ok you cynical lot. I just wrote a long reply and don't know where it ended up..
Facts are what I wrote.
I am happy to send a photo to anyone who gives me an email address. I don't know how to shrink the photo.
To the people who have been helpful. Thank you.
To the guy who got so offended by the fact that I said my aunties fiance was in the airforce- I just thought that gave him more of a chance to be in different countries where forgeries were common.
End of story.
I'll take the watch to a jeweler .. Hopefully he won't be quite so cynical. :)

Take the caseback off , but don't be too surprised to see it's not a Rolex movement inside.

Little point given it's probably quartz and is a clear fake.

I was adding to other posts, & taking the caseback off is just further confirmation that the watch is a fake .
