Availability? - Luminor 1950 10 days GMT Automatic 44 mm PAM 00689

Always wanted a Panerai but never was able to pull the trigger with the large selection of models. I found this model online, however, after trying on the large 47mm “equation” blue dial in titanium. That one was too big but this 44mm could be a sweet spot and would be great to add into the line up.

It looks like this is a limited edition piece (300 units made) that was released in 2016 so I’m requesting some guidance on where to find one. Online searches didn’t bring up much.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Cheers!

You will pay a significant premium for a mint one...I used to have one—great PAM but very hard to come by...I would give Govberg a call...

Hello,
I did not get anything from Govberg. I have seen few PAM688 at reasonable prices (Around 6k or 8k).
Have not seen a PAM 689 in a while and I am interested if anyone has a lead.
Btcus: did you look at the PAM729

Did you manage to source a 689? I’ve seen a few establishments advertising them but then state nine months delivery, or something equally unfeasible. A piece like this is always going to be difficult to source; I haven’t even seen one on Chrono24 in the two years since it’s release.

No luck. Moved on to researching 233s. Very easy to come bye. Will look to acquire sometime in 2019.

The 233 is a fabulous piece and a real classic. However, you probably know this already but just in case, the 533 is the less glamorous sister of the 689 and might be worth a look. Same watch, black dial. And the love of my Panerai life.

As for the 689, when I first saw your OP, I thought ‘good luck with that one, mate’. The problem with any purchasable item that’s a limited run is that as well as the genuine fans, there’s always going to be a few that buy one just to move it on for a profit. Once the flippers have had their fun, the genuine fans of the 689 would have a very hard time parting with this piece. The Rolex sunburst dials are mesmerising but the 689 is simply astonishing. I’m not at all surprised that I’ve never seen one for sale.

Photos do not do it justice but you might get an idea what I mean anyway. Good luck in your hunt.

Here’s mine:
