Tokyo Olympic 2020 Speedmasters

Very nice looking watches in general....albeit similar to stuff before like the Apollo XI 35th Anniversary and Gemini IV/Ed White Speedmasters. Limited to 2020 per variant (5 variants) and 55 complete box sets (special box set with all 5 watches)....only sold in Japan.

https://www.omegawatches.jp/ja/watch...52230423003001

My only real complaint is the sapphire glass, but great watches in general.

Oooh! I like this one a lot! Very Gemini IV-ish, but overall tastefully done. Is this JDM only?

Never mind. I re-read your post and see these are only going to be available in Japan. Bummer.

No. The rule is it has to be in person according to the manager in Ginza.....I'm not sure how this is going to be enforced moving forward though.

Excellent question. I don't think it's boutique only but we didn't ask....got the impression that it's Japan only because the corporate groups that hold the rights to Olympic merchandise in Tokyo specifically set this up with Omega to keep it exclusive in Japan. I'll send the manager there an email to see if he'll talk.

Any idea when they’re available? I’ll most likely be in Japan a few times between now and 2020, I’d love to grab the blue one asap!

Thanks for the heads-up!

Just head down to your local Japanese Omega dealer and make reservation. But you'll need to do it quickly. Dealer told me there have a been a lot of calls.

The models shown at the dealer were non-working demonstration pieces. But they looked awesome.

Confirmed with boutique in Japan it's not boutique exclusive. But he did tell me with 8 boutiques in Japan, most of these are slated for boutiques versus ADs.

Boutique said they're going to be constantly getting them throughout till 2020 to allocate. It's not a one shot deal...but taking orders and could sell out due to demand before then.

Exactly, would love the blue one. And possibly the green or the panda. Great looking watches

Since you saw them in metal, which one you liked best? I feel the red will look nice in flesh but the pictures don't do it justice

Love it! I would love to add the white or blue one.. but this would upset gemini IV and 35th anniversary collector/owners..

The dealer had only the blue and white demos available and not the entire line up. Between the two, it would be a really tough choice. So I took both....for less than a third the price of SS Daytona, it was an easy decision.

I own both...I'm somewhat not happy...but Tokyo Olympics is important to my family (especially my wife's side). So I figure I join the craze in Japan and support a brand I love. The stepped dials and packaging are pure win...my only gripe is the sapphire choice versus hesalite.
