GMT Master II 2006 authenticity

Hi All

Looking for a GMT and specifically at a 2006 model, from a known dealer, but there are a couple of questions I wanted to get a view on.

The font on the bezel insert appears to me to be pre-2006 but the dealer insists it’s the original one, the watch is all original, perfect condition, been checked by watchmaker, etc.

I have checked pictures of about 60 others from 2006, 2005 and 2004 and all have the font with the more pointy 4, none with this much wider font. This font appears regularly on the much older versions.

Could it be the case that this is an original insert from 2006? Granted if not it could be an older one inserted into a newer watch and doesn’t necessarily mean there is a problem with the watch authenticity, but the dealer is so insistent it’s all original it raises my concern levels.

Also on the close up the hour markers look kind of roughly painted, but that might just be what they look like under high magnification?

Pictures attached, any thoughts?

Thanks

I would be more concerned with the hands, they dont seem the match the patina on the lume dots. Prhaps the hands were swapped at service.

If this is a 2006, then there shouldn't be any patina as the dial and hands should both be superluminova and not tritium. I don't see any patina that's associated with aging on this example.

Good point, i didnt bother to read the body of the message if im being completely honest. Hands and dial dont match so something is fishy

It does look strange, could just be damage. Watch does look pretty well used. I don't see any obvious signs of it being a fake, but I'm no expert. Regardless, I think you could find a better example OP.

If the seller has not had the watch in his possession for the past 15 years, he has no idea if it is original or not.

Also, since Rolex does not make a watch by "model year", what is the criteria to say it is a 2006 model?

Flat 4 inserts were certainly used as late as 03/04, and may have appeared later.

2006??
I think should have REHAUT marking
Started 2005 and completed 2007.
So not 100% essential, but something to check!

Looks good to me..
No rehaut is fine.

The insert looks like crap anyway, replace it..

Chrono24 is the last place I would look for a watch...

Some guys are bargain shoppers...it doesn't matter how many times they are warned about Chrono 24, it just never sinks in. How many times does the "anything to save a buck" mentality turn into the bargain they didn't bargain for.
