i think if the watch had a ridiculous amount of resistance to magnetism, enough that the wearer would be in danger before the watch, something like the equivalent of the Deepsea's water resistance, it would be a feature worth talking about and would justify the thicker case size like with the Deepsea

I had my GV for five years. I think I tired of the second hand.

I had a Black Milgauss. Handsome watch! I don't really understand the negativity regarding the seconds hand--the seconds hand is unique and pretty understated in the scheme of things.

However, the top heaviness was a major negative for me. Felt like a brick on my wrist and heavier than divers I owned. For a watch that isn't all that sporty ( compared to the Subs and GMTs), that heaviness and thickness was very WEIRD, strange. At least to me.

Very gimmicky, IMO, for a Rolex product...

I could go on...small crown...its the only sports watch to have the crappy date just clasp (no flip lock)....etc etc.

That being said I think it's a lovely watch.

As for vintage...it is only popular because it was so unpopular when it was in circulation .
Crappy date just clasp?!? The clasp on the modern DJ's are fantastic, even without the flip lock.

Your right, the datejust clasp is not "crappy" but the flip lock is arguably better and it is on every other sports model except the milgauss. Even the significantly less expensive 214270 explorer has a flip lock. It just feels sturdier and using the flip lock is a small pleasure in itself.

I loved all my milgausses I owned. However, I found them neither fish nor fowl. They were too fancy for casualwear too cool for business wear

It is matte and it's amazing in my eyes. But I like the vintage stuff too so I'm a little biased.

Owning a Milgauss is like owning a Yachtmaster 1. You have to own it because you like it. It's not one of the cooler or popular models. But every time I look at my wrist and see my YM, I get a huge smile. Should be the same for you guys with the Milgauss.

I appreciate it, but was never moved to buy it. I like that it's unique in the lineup. Arguably, it's Rolex's one eccentric watch. I like that. Just not enough to buy it...

I like the lightning hand. It goes back about 60 years, and is an interesting historical Rolex feature, IMO. Some folks seem to think it was only introduced a few years back with the new Milgauss range.

Also in the fence for this one.... Milgauss is not that popular when compared to the other sports line up... But thats a big plus for me...

the lightning Second hand is the one i don't like when looking at internet photos...

but when in metal its actually nice....

Liked the green sapphire concept. Don't really get the thunder hands. Find the complication kinda useless. A bit too much color going on.

Milgauss was an interesting piece which take the research environment to reality. But the models without green glass has not same magic despite their nice shape. Mine was black..

I look upon the Milgauss with fondness. Not least because, after too much wine with lunch, I slipped down a dozen concrete steps in Lisbon; I was a bit bruised, the watch was grazed, but it never missed a beat. These, like most Rolexes, are tough little beasts.
Me, I am more careful these days.
Solid episode of bonding with your lovely milgauss

It was quite popular sometime back then. I guess its a fashion cycle. Any popular models may become unpopular one day.

I bought it because I loved the quirkyness over a more common DJ. It was between the DJII and the Milgauss for me, but the Milgauss just seemed more interesting. I also wasn't a big fan of the cyclops, so I also considered going with the 36mm OP, but I liked the size of the Milgauss. I didn't think I'd like the orange accents from the pictures, but once it was on the wrist, I just really loved the watch. Then studying the history of the Milgauss, and having a science/engineering background, I thought it was perfect for me.

That being said, my only wish was I'm not a big fan of the orange 3-6-9 markers on the GV. I wish they had the normal black dial for the GV. Not a huge deal for me, the GV is worth living with a little extra orange under the crystal.

Well, since my 116400 has been in hiding in my office for nearly two months, and will come out of hiding in five days, talking about it will help.

For this watch, I wanted an all stainless Rolex to wear on patrol (I'm going through reserve police officer training, graduate in June). Less blingy than TT GMTc and much less than the 18k DD I am after later this year.

I wanted a white face because they are beautiful, they've always drawn me.

I didn't want a date complication because I find the cyclops wartish.

I liked the faraday complication since the cage implies some toughness, even if it's only in my mind.

I do not appreciate green tinted crystal, it just doesn't hit me right.

I did not like the jagged second hand, but it's growing on me. And I can always have a non-RSC SC pop a boring second hand on there, returning it if I ever sell.

So, starting Sunday, I'll appreciate the milgauss even if no one else will!

Yes it's not as popular as the rest but I love mine! The dial, markers, hands, gv glass...absolutely gorgeous.

Although I sometimes have this wish that it has the 39mm oyster perpetual case so i can wear it all day all night....
