I’ve had zero issues with my 3120 movement. Going to stick with the 15400. More elegant and balanced.

Or the story of the guy that couldn’t have the girl he loved since she moved abroad and try to convince himself that the fatish girl next door is not so bad and actually better because she is available.

I have the 15400 and love it, but I also love the 15500...it will be nice to see it in person. It certainly has to be possible to own the 15400 and genuinely prefer its looks. It’s not like the 15500 design tweaks are clearly objectively better and therefore those who say they prefer the 15400 must be biased. Can’t you own the 15400 and prefer it for reasons other than that you own one? |

Own the 15400 and also love and appreciate the 15500 in a different way than 15400. Would still feel the same way if I didn’t own the 15400. To me I see elegant/classy (15400) vs sporty/modern (15500). Not one or the other is better—just different. And yes yes, I’m fully aware the 15500 has an updated new movement. |

Whereas I feel like 15500 is younger and sportier, so if you are still young and can afford AP already this may be the watch to go other than the ROO, The 15400 feels more elegant, but if you want a watch that feel sporty and dressy at the same time 15500 is a good choice. |

Umm, I have a 15400 and was commenting on the 3120 and its issues. I also mentioned that it is premature to say the 4302 is a superior movement. Not everyone talks up their own book.

At least we own the watch LOL Plus, wouldn’t be too hard to flip for the 15500 now would it. So what’s your point? I would not trade my 15400 for a date window that ran out of dial space. What an afterthought! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Well actually I like the new date window better as ita bigger and easier to see. I feel the previous date window is too centered (understandable as the movement is too small for 41mm case)

I agree with all your said but the fact that the window is cut off at the edge of the dial just kills the 15500 for me. They should have not done the minute track that way dividing the dial. Had they kept the old minute track style of the 15400 with the dial going all the way to the edge of the case it would have been much nicer. Of course this is my opinion and I respect yours. As for the 3120, it may have been small for the 15400 but by no means would I state it as being “too centered”. Had the date window stuck out further from the hour markers I would have agreed but not the case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I think the fatter minute track was needed because they couldn't have carved a little bit of tapestry between the date window and edge of the dial. I suppose the movement could have been designed just a tad smaller, which would have left more room. |

AP 15400 vs 15500
Quote:
Not sure about that, mate! Look at the 15202 - had they done it that way I would be the first to say I’ll flip my 15400 for the 15500. Even the 15202 uses the thinner and longer hour markers like the 15400 that are more elegant. I’m not in the know but based on the articles I’ve been reading, they designed the caliber for the 11.59 and shoved it in the RO. Not sure it was designed for the 15500 in mind. 15202 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

What a flawed argument ... any 15400 owner can sell their watch, buy a 15500 and depending on model, even pocket some cash.

Congrats on the new watch. Great choice. Prices for the 15400 will actually go up. The 15500 is priced at $19,200.

Well we're talking blue only here right? Because black and white 15400s can be had for relatively close to retail in the classifieds.
My thoughts are that you'd need to sell your blue 15400 right now to get maximum price, and then go a few months without a RO waiting for the 15500 to be released. Then you need to be first on the list to actually get a 15500 relatively quickly for retail. If you're going the gray market route, I'm assuming the 15500 will start around the price the gray market 15400s are now. Right now, used blue 15400 sell for close to the price of new, but that might not be the case after the 15500 is around for a bit. It's not that the 15500s will "flood" the market, of course, but we'll certainly see a lot of "incomings" around the same time. Unless you're getting one for retail (which is possible for some people of course), I don't see a situation happening in which you can sell a few years old, used 15400, buy a gray market 15500 immediately, and ALSO pocket a bunch of cash. |

You’re whole basis is hinged on the fact that the 15400 will stay as is - as we all know nothing does. Throw in a discontinued 15400 and your argument has no grounds. Not disagreeing with your rational - just saying you got to look at it both ways. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Point is, if you don't like it .. you sell it and get what you want ... may win some may lose some (as I've done more than a few times over the years and many times over with different 15400s). The whole "people who own one will say it is better" argument is flawed. These people (myself included) can buy a 15500 same as you and anybody else. As simple as that. No speculation whatsoever.

I suppose the benefit of having the 15400 and wanting to upgrade is that the wait time isn’t an issue because you do have something similar on your wrist in the meantime.
